apeacock Posted March 5, 2016 Author Report Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Made progress today on replacing the ebrake with stuff from Husseins XCR. Really bummed it took my so long to figure out how to mount the ebrake shoes. Going to make a video of how I did it. Really amazed how easy it is with the proper technique. Finally got my Mirzams bored out by the only guy I town who would do the job. Only come to find out they don't fit over at least the rear brakes Maybe a small spacer will do the job? Not sure what width requires longer bolts. Made a VERY unpleasant noise when bolting it up for the test fit. left a little mark on the caliper. Edited March 5, 2016 by apeacock Quote
lookforjoe Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 Sorry to hear of the trials with the eBrake. Try a 5mm spacer, that is thin enough not to mess with the required lug thread depth. Quote

Hardest part was realizing they need to be slipped into place on the assembly versus having the spring pulled over the whole thing. Can't count how long I've spent trying to make it work. Quote
WayAway Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 You should be fine with a 5mm spacer! No longer lugs as well, Like H said 1 Quote

apeacock Posted March 9, 2016 Author Report Posted March 9, 2016 Almost last batch of parts arrive today. Something seems to be missing from the collar service kit =[ Going to mail it back and get a new set with the additional seal and lubricant. Quote
apeacock Posted March 23, 2016 Author Report Posted March 23, 2016 Took a minute today to install the new detent and the reverse light switch/detent. Thought I was having trouble shifting at first and then I switch the cables on the shifter itself. Seems to work great, really slots into each gear and as AndyB5 has said to me it's hard to hit reverse when going to 6th. 1 Quote

lookforjoe Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 Fill the trans from the top detent plug in the gate assy once the trans is installed, axles in. Should be 2 quarts. The side fill plug is not accessible with the trans in the car & the side mount installed, in case we didn't already discuss this... Never, ever went anywhere near reverse going 5th-6th on hard shifts (that's over 130+) with no rev limit, shifts around 7500 :) Quote

Never, ever went anywhere near reverse going 5th-6th on hard shifts (that's over 130+) with no rev limit, shifts around 7500 :) We did not but I always appreciate the advice sir! I was considering making a flip switch on the dash with a sunroof momentary switch hooked up to a 10 second relay that would open up the reverse gate. However once I hooked it all up with the detents in place as shown above, it's WAAAY farther over then I thought. Great tip on filling through that detent, would not have thought of that. I was just thinking yesterday how i was going to fill it from that top drain plug. I bought the 4L Volvo jug as it was $46 only, $10 more then two 1L jugs of the stuff. This should allow for a change out down the line and or any small leaks I don't catch in time. Things still to do are count up all the parts one last time and Shave the webbing on the side. Question as well: Do I need any seals on the passenger side apart from what comes in the Collar sleeve service kit? They all seem to come with 3 and O-ring, a drive shaft seal and an outer seal for the collar sleeve. The Diagram would lead me to think no. Edited March 24, 2016 by apeacock Quote
andyb5 Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 With the engine/trans/subframe out of the car, filling the trans is easy Quote
apeacock Posted March 24, 2016 Author Report Posted March 24, 2016 New factoid. Both the first and second service kit I got (31256246) Seem to no longer some with the little bottle of lube. The second kit was fully sealed and it would make me think that the kit no longer comes with it. Reflecting further even the diagram above doesn't show the tube near the service kit where as some older ones do. Quote

Do the seals before the collar, of course. The 3rd seal must be the DS axle seal - that's what the 6843481 is for Quote

I have another on the way because I thought I hadn't ordered it yet and the 3481 seal i started with came in the axle kit bag. Time for another call to get that credit back. Quote
