poboy
I'm sure this is an old topic but since the search is not on this site, I'll ask again.I want to upgrade my '98 v70 816HU, stock speakers (no center channel), no amp to C70 Dynaudio speakers, 4x100W amp, 901HU. Any tips on Dynaudio speakers and do they fit into old speaker brackets or do they drop in as is without issues?
burnout8488
C70 speakers will not fit, nor will the amp without custom wiring. You will have to keep your eyes peeled for a V70 specific Dynaudio kit.... and they are extremely rare. The amp will need to be a V70R 4x50 amp that mounts under the passenger seat. poboy
Thanks. Are the door speaker brackets different on the C70? Looks like the speakers themselves are the same.
Commander Riker
IMO, it's easier to just plan for a new system as a whole, and go all aftermarket. Then you do not have the conflict of trying to get 8ohm speakers working with a amp that prefers 4ohm... etc.Just my .
quiksilver
Thanks. Are the door speaker brackets different on the C70? Looks like the speakers themselves are the same. C70 door speakers are too large in diameter to mount in the S/V70 doors.Go aftermarket or find one of the very rare factory V70 Dynaudio speaker kits. DragosD
C70's door speakers are too large but C70's Convertible rear seat/side panel speakers are the same size with the ones in S70s doors + same impedance and same plug!!! You just need to mount them on s70's door speaker brackets.

(n)A-GAME
How do they sound?I think those are the mid-bass woofers on the C70 setup. I'm guessing if you're using them as a primary speaker not well as they're designed to work with the 11 other speakers with specific functions in the setup. I previously had bilstein and I had to change it back to sachs. The ride was too harsh and stiff on roads that are not so good. These lowering springs with stock sachs and volvo strut bar is a very good compromise for a street car. Not to harsh and good and stiff enought in corners. DragosD
You are welcome! The speakers are great, the sound is full and rich, they can handle more power and the cost is only $10 each in JY. Seriously, what can beat that? Daniel, I'm not really sure what are you talking about, what's a "primary speaker"? As far as I know they clearly perform the same "specific function" in both models. What's the difference between them?

(n)A-GAME
Sorry, did not check back in this thread. You can read much more info in this old Swedespeed thread, but the basic gist is that each speaker in the Dynaudio setup serves a specific role. E.g.,Actually, the centre speaker is not a sub, it is a woofer/midrange with emphasis on midrange since the Dolby decoder filters out the bass from the centre speaker and sends it to the other speakers. In your count you forgot the tweeters in the rear deck so the actual count is:4 8" woofers1 5" midrange2 4" midrange4 1" tweeters... in all 12 speakers! My personal favorite is the Coupe, the installation of the rear woofers creates a horn effect which results in a very high efficiency. So even if the Convertible has a higher number of speakers the Coupe can create more acoustical power in the car, especially in the bass.Edit: And dredging through my old bookmarks, here's another very techy explanation of each one with the non-Volvo part information and numbers. The DIY car audio guys love these speakers for the ability to use them in other applications.
