Applefritter
Installed a Curt 122112 Class 2 trailer hitch on my 98 S70 GLT and wanted to share some pictures for those that may find it helpful. From the front looking towards the back, there are holes (the bottom one) on each side of the subframe for the hitch bolts to fit perfectly, but the hole only goes about 1/2" before hitting a 1/4" plate that doesn't have a hole.Drilled the hole from the back with the existing hole as my guide.Did this on both sides.Bolts that came with hitch were too short. Purchased longer ones (I'll find the exact specifications and add them here).Third bolt attaches to tow hook. The bolt that came with the hitch worked fine.It is a hidden hitch that sits behind the bumper. If I hadn't had to drill the holes, it MAY have been possible to avoid removing the bumper, but I'm not sure this can be avoided.Longer bolts, with custom inserts by Grandpa to make level for bolt tension.Ordered the "Euro" 2" ball hitch witch seems to work great (it sits far enough from the bumper to not worry about anything rubbing or scraping). Also bought a straight (horizontal) hitch with 1 7/8" ball that works great as well. Next step is to wire for lights...
JVC
Definitely in for some details on wiring. I scored a similar hitch at the JY for $20, gonna toss it on so I can buy a bike rack for the hitch rather than the roof.
