Was Trump right about Mexican immigrants?

Since we're bantering about racism, let's take it further south of the border than Dixie allows and ask the question, what the hell was Donald Trump thinking?

For all its crassness, Trump’s rant on immigration is closer to reality than the gauzy clichés of the immigration romantics unwilling to acknowledge that there might be an issue welcoming large numbers of high school dropouts into a 21st-century economy. If we don’t want to add to the ranks of the poor, the uninsured and the welfare dependent, we should have fewer low-skilled immigrants — assuming saying that is not yet officially considered a hate crime.

But here's the other question.  Is Trump serious about running for President or is he just trying to bolster his personal reputation?

I agree, if he were to make it onto the Republican ticket he'd lose by quite a bit. He has too much of a celebrity reputation that some might vote for him, some might not. But the Democrat candidate would be the overall Victor, in my opinion.

I however do agree that we need someone running with more of a business background than another political puppet. Someone who knows the economy with first hand education could take this country in the right direction, I believe.

As for the rascist comment Trump made, no I do not agree. Mexicans are some of the nicest, genuinegenuine, hard working non-nationals I've met. Of course there are some terrible immigrants, but to lump the entire group into a drug dealing, raping and killing category is just simply not right.

Kind of like the tards who will vote for Hilary because "It's about time we had a woman president."

Plus they make up so much of our military.

And yet that is precisely why probably half the people who claim they would vote for her will do so.  Did a search on the DailyKos and this particular statement cracked me up by someone who was asking people to convince them why they should vote for Hillary:

What I’m not interested in reading:
Because she can win.
Because it’s time for a woman President.
Because she’s better than the Republican nominee (whatever rough beast that will end up being).

In other words, the primary reasons most people who support her would vote for her.

Praise Zeus I hope Bernie gets the nod and not her.

Back on topic. Trump is just a dumb ass who doesn't know what he is saying half the time. Maybe... slightly racist.

This is a popular argument, especially by conservatives: that we need a politician with a business background.  However, if we look back in time, the history of Presidential screw-ups is populated with guys who would have held MBAs:

  1. Warren Harding
  2. Herbert Hoover

The only ones worse than them were lawyers.

That said, I do think a President with business sense could be what's called for in today's political economy.  They also need to know how to negotiate and work towards a collaborative approach to get things done though and that's not something most CEOs in my experience are very good at.  They're used to giving orders.

All I know is that if Donald Trump's remarks negatively impact me being able to obtain authentic mexican burritos, he's gonna have a big problem

Just tell the chica at Chipotle you only want beef and refried beans on your burrito Darnell. :P

You could always switch to authentic 7/11 burritos.  They aren't good but if you are eating them sober and before 3:00 am you're doing it wrong.

Latin American immigration policy isn't best discussed in a presidential sound-byte by a toupeed orangutan.

His base?  Ted Cruze's base?

These are the throws of a dying breed with everything to lose and nothing to gain by stirring controversy.

Don't worry Alain, I'm sure your grand kids will get bused to an all Latino school some day, just like you were.

I have no worries Erik.

And my kids are already minorities in their school where half the student population is Indian/Asian.

We've enrolled them all in Mandarin immersion programs to prepare them to effectively compete with our future world masters. Immigration from the South is a distraction from the real issues.
