Here it is if anyone else is interested. Thanks for the great write-up. I had forgotten about this one. Volospeed_-_850_Dash_Repair.pdf Thanks but can't open the pdf. Do you have to be a "supporting member" or something? Says I don't have permissions. Could you post on generic server like dropbox or something? I think my 855T may need this soon; the driver's side is getting squeaky.. @Oreo931 how much weight do you think you added to the dash? Fiberglass isn't the lightest stuff.. Thanks again! Completely negligible. Buy two boxes of the stuff and you'll quickly realize it's nothing to worry about.

I know you're kidding around and I'm sure you know this already but weight loss helps regardless of the car son. Extra weight in a Volvo is no different than extra weight in a Porsche. And honestly our cars are pretty light, It looks like I only have about 200 pounds on your gti. (without my dynamat and sound system) Anyway I'm assuming Gdog was more concerned with added weight causing stress to the already shitty dash mounts, not quarter mile times. I actually added dynamat to the dash itself and any exposed metal behind it. That coupled with the reinforced fiber glass, the dash makes literally zero noise for probably the first time in over 10 years.
dazbooker
Do you have a picture of the dash cover trim plate you used How did you fit this as if it's the part near the windscreen I think this is part of dashboard

I’ve inserted red arrows showing some of the areas you want to reinforce on the top of the dash. On the underside of the dash with the mounting tabs, it’s self explanatory. thats my repair I did. IDK how long its been 8 years? The resin that comes with the standard 3m fiberglass resin doesn't bond well to the 850 dashboard plastic. Im actually trying to figure out what epoxy to use since I have a 95% perfect dashboard waiting to be reinforced. So if anyone has any recommendations let me know attached is the same dashboard as of last week. some of the fiberglass has come loose, I got a few new cracks but nothing like you would expect from a non reinforced one edit One thing Im doing differently this time is to make sure to add reinforcement EVERYWHERE... the cracks will find a weak spot! 05V70RAUTOBOX
I'm a Journeyman auto body and frame repair tech with over 37 years experience. The problem was a chemical reaction. Next time, use a catalyzed high build primer. You don't need a booth and fancy equipment because you can purchase RATTLE CAN CATALYZED PAINTS AND PRIMERS. They are not cheap, for rattle cans, around $25.00 each. You'll only need one. Four good coats with 20 min flash time between each, let cure overnight, block sand, carefully, THEN PAINT.
