Car rarity

Recommended Posts

First off, I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place

So after about two years of ownership, curiosity finally got to me.  I know that s70 t5 manuals were rare here in the states, but I wasn't quite sure how rare.  A quick search told me that there was only 361 manual s70 t5's in 1998.  Can anyone verify this?

i don't know much of my cars history, other than it was donated by an elderly man from California (I live and bought the car in Maryland).  My cars been a manual since I've owned it, but knowing how popular volvos are over on the west coast, I almost convinced myself that my car was originally an auto.

i decided to go online and look up a vin decoder, and reference it to my vin.  To my surprise, according to my vin and the decoder, my car is originally manual!  My jaw almost hit the floor when I realized I have one of the 361, especially since that number is probably well below 200 by now, almost 20 years later.

does anyone know if there's I way i can check and see which number out of 361 mine is?

on a side note, I think it'd be pretty cool to make this a thread about how rare some of the cars on this site are, similar to the rare parts thread I've read before.

David '7///7' has or had the only 427 850R sedan in the US? I was verified by VCNA.

I own the only M58 S70 AWD in the Netherlands, also confirmed by Volvo.

Pretty sure David sold his 850 R.  I recall he had it listed sometime last year or earlier this year.

If we're going to talk rare Volvos then the manual transmission T5 P80 C70 coupe (1997-2003) is another candidate.  Only 603 of them were manufactured globally in the entire run of 26,036 coupes during that model run. 135 were delivered to the US.

I believe all 3 are M56 from the factory. I know for Josh and me that's the case and I don't think Gary's car - the one Timo now owns - was swapped either.

Not the rarest model but part of my draw to the v70r is that no one else has one in my area. They seem common when you come to carlisle but there's what, 1 other v70r with an m66 and Ohlins out there? I think that's Big Wills blue one.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Will's is a V70R, just a properly built V70 AWD.

Correct.
