AnthonyR
Again, someone who used to be on here had defeated it and was actually making adapters for people that would actually allow you to control a computer with the previous and next buttons as well, and he was selling it pretty cheap but the post is long gone. If I remember right it is more difficult than just grounding it, it is looking for an actual data signal. Do you have changer now? That would be the easiest, but if not, you're gonna need an adapter of some sort to mimick the M-bus
drlava
Aha. more interest in this subject. yes, I'm the guy that builds the dongle with the microcontroller programmed to fool the radio into thinking there is a cd changer there. and yes, that link was to to my computer to a picture I made for people like you! I am selling these units - $55 ea for the basic, + $12 for the serial communications to laptop feature and + $12 for the switchable dual-inputs (one of which can be a CD-changer bypass for aftermarket cd changers). Yes, it IS more complicated than just shorting some wires. The alpine Mbus protocol must be followed, and in some cases it's been modified to help prevent aftermarket solutions. The SC-811 is plain ol Mbus. I used mine to control a laptop-based jukebox from the buttons on the head unit but there are many options.picture of it in operationPicture of dual input unit with serial control optionFeel free to email or PM with questions. Heat
Along the same lines...I have a '93 945T. I have a radio on order, should get it in the next couple of days. I pulled my radio out over lunch today to look at the back (it's the standard CR-814, by far the easiest radio removal I've done), on the back was the harness, the amp wire, and the antenna plug.I'll be getting a harness soon as well as a kit, when hooking up the new radio do I just connect the harness, plug in the antenna, and leave the amp wire from the car not plugged into anything? drzaphod
Do all Volvo radios use the MBus protocol?

drlava
What about this one?http://www.dension4u.de/shop/product_info....products_id=330"AUX-IN Adapter für alle ALPINE M-BUS Radios mit Wechslersteuerung, wird einfach am Radio anstatt des Wechslerkabels angesteckt"Babeld:AUXIN adapter for all ALPINE M-BUS radio with change-over switch price increase, is stuck on simply at the radio instead of the change-over switch cable←Sorry, no go on that one. that one is for alpine m-bus radios which have a special aux-in mode. For ours you still have to talk m-bus. I have re-hosted the jpeg pinout.
TouchdownHolmes
Do you still make these cables? Also, will it work with an iPod?Thanks
drlava
Yep. I do. Yes they work with iPod, and yes they are for the sc series radios, NOT the HU series.
Sadude
by saying they work with ipods you mean that it will fead the music through the stock system but is the ipod controllabel via the headdeck or no???nice work by the way drlava and that end product looks really professional.glad to see you made it back to the boards to help these poor souls out
drlava
Right now the ipods are not controllable through the HU. as I don't have an ipod to experiment with, i doubt they will. But don't iPods have remotes anyway?
clintans
Hi,creating an extra line-in from the CD-changer connector is quite a job but it is possible. I just got my small device working last week, fooling my radio SC-802 to enable the CD-changer input so I could connect my MD-player. It work really great. For others who are interested in experimenting can look at the following links:http://www.jevinskie.org/genmay/mbus/http://kiora.ath.cx/alpine/http://www.cdchangeren.prv.pl/Maybe here are people who like to share information, like a specification of the commands for the Mbus. That one seems to be hard to find, dead/old links and so on.My next step in my project is to control my MD-player from the radio buttons, just like the real CD-changer./regards Magnus

crazykn
Ah, my first post on this fourm...I'll add something useful. I ordered the Blitzsafe AUX (RCA) in for my 850 few weeks ago and decided to take it apart. Found out that I could easily reverse engineer it, but came to halt when realized I don't have the equipment to read it's programable intercooler. It uses that intercooler to emulate the Alpine M-Bus system. by the way, the blitzsafe adapter is simply $9.00 worth of parts, I even wrote down all the components and could easily order them . Does sound pretty good though.
