Hi all,

just bought my first Volvo- a 1995 850 turbo sedan. it has a M56H 5 speed swapped and a 16T turbo. it seems pretty quick. Car needs some clean up, and other than that, needs power steering fixed, abs/traction, radio (says code), and a few parts need paint. Looking forward to it being my new DD.

Pull the radio and bring it to a dealer, they'll give you a card with radio code on it

Depending where you're located, https://www.midwest-abs.com/ Midwest-ABS is the place for rebuilt ABS modules (traction/abs lights)

The '95 MY didn't have the problematic abs module issues (broken solder joints, etc.); that started in '96 MY.

The '95 should still have access to the abs codes via the obd1 connector under the hood.  Welcome to VS!

Sell seller said the lights came on after hitting a pot hole so i was thinking it was wheel speed sensor. i'll have to look up how to check the codes.

So i found the code on a card in the glove box. that worked! But half the lights are burned out! i'm sure it's possible to replace them. is it worth it?

It isn't very hard. The radio removes very easily by pressing the two thin, inch-tall rectangles on the sides in, they'll pop out, and pull. Then you remove the faceplate, which isn't much effort. The little lights aren't cheap though.

Pretty sure it's the same light as most of the dash switches use

You can buy replacement bulbs from radioshack. They are less than a dollar a piece. The bulbs do not come with the plastic base installed, so you have to remove the existing bulb from the base and install the new bulb. It's very easy.

i got the radio out and replaced the light for the LCD. Let me know if anyone wants to know how to get to that. It's not too hard, just need a good soldering iron. I used Radioshack  2721154  bulb and it fit perfectly. Just had to trim the leads a bit before putting it in.

I have to swing by the Honda dealer to get the other lights. I'm just going to replace them all even though only 3 are burned out. I just would rather know it's good pretty much forever rather than saving $5.

Yeah apparently 98-02 Honda Accord/Odyssey has the same bulbs for the clocks as the 850's radio. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-OEM-HONDA-NEO-WEDGE-CLOCK-LIGHT-BULB-T3-10-PACK-ACCORD-ODYSSEY-/252160384115?fits=Model%3AAccord&hash=item3ab5ee1c73:g:IjsAAOSw5VFWPUYt&vxp=mtr

I also found them here, but with shipping, it will be cheaper just to stop by the dealer. I'll do that tomorrow since it's supposed to rain. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/JKL-Components/CNW1-23/?qs=6YhTptf0WO1dQPp6ZqLy%2bw%3d%3d

You got a great deal on that car and glad to see it's staying in the enthusiast family.  Enjoy it and join us over on the Volvo Enthusiasts of Michigan (VEOM) facebook page.

Thanks! it's an interesting car. it definitely needs a tune since it has the bigger injectors and turbo. I have an AEM wideband i'm ready to install once i figure out my exhaust. You wouldn't happen to know where my spoiler is, would you? I was promised an 850R spoiler when i bought it but i guess it's somewhere in Kalamazoo...

Also replaced the power steering pump on it. wasn't too difficult once i figured out  the ECU box comes off. i watched a video that didn't show that part and it was interesting trying to angle sockets in there.

Hello i hope youre enjoying the car. Im sorry i couldnt get you the spoiler, i didnt have time to go get it. I think i gave it to my friend dan (na game) and forgot about it. He has helped me out a lot with the car and i gave him a bunch of volvo parts in return, my spoiler was probably one of those parts. That was my fuck up, i apologize. Im sure he can sell it to you for cheap.
