KNOWLES4R
I recently arranged for the 20,000 mile service on my XC60 T6 and was advised that, in addition to the normal scheduled items for service, that they would be replacing the spark plugs. When I asked why, I was somewhat blown off and told not to worry as it would be covered by Volvo. Anyone know the real story?
gmsgltr
interesting - ask to get the parts removed back so you can inspect them
Blockpartie
Service action by Volvo due to issues with the factory installed plugs, at least in some cases. Applies to all VEA engines of that model year. Obviously only the VEP4 and not the VED4 because that has glow plugs. Don't remove the newly installed spark plugs to look at them. gmsgltr
sorry... what i wrote was worded poorly. ask to see the parts they "had to take out and replace" to see for yourself what was wrong. but now that you have those details from blockpartie above maybe you arent worried anymore
831t5r
The old plugs are prone to breaking early causing misfires/engine damage. Have newer updated plugs

KNOWLES4R
Took the car in for service today and the problem is some plugs have had cracks in ceramic, so service action S29842 called for the replacement as a preventive measure.
