Iridium Plugs

I use the iridium’s with the stock gap. It looks like the plugs were running to hot to me, but I can't really tell if that’s a glare in the picture. Platinum plugs are waste of money to me since copper is a better conductor anyways. I think most of those platinum plugs are just made for the average lazy person who does no maintenance to there cars for long periods of time.

Car runs rich and cool. Iridium plugs, atleast the ones from NGK and Denso are crap. They were two ranger cooler than stock

agreed. bay and you are probably right. and why shouldnt people who make a reasonable amount of money selling those things NOT advise expensive plugs......

whata about a MSD then? is the orig coil also more than sufficient? or is an MSD really advisable?

(edit: my msd misfires btw. but thats probably because its broken)

Im sure MSD does some good for other cars... but nothing for the T5's

I didnt get the coil...but I got the MSD 6A ignition box... doesnt seem to have made a difference at all. (but its kinda good to know that its utilizing the power better, in terms of multiple sparks rather than one lazy one... how true it is, well.. I have no way of knowing...) Also...many people with the coil seem to get problems right away or a little later. Swedish Mike has done a little bit more testing and found the stock ignition to be just fine for higher tuned cars...

Of course, in extensive engine tuning, better management tools and ignition systems will give the T5 some benefits... but thats almost a complete overhaul of the ignition/fuel/timing etc... Most bolt ins beyond ECU & Exhaust seem to have marginal if not any benefit to engine performance. :)

Charles, did your rich condition improve when you went back to copper plugs? I am running the NGK Iridiums and my car runs pig rich. I've replaced all other ignition components with the exception of the coil as well as the front o2 sensor. My gas mileage SUCKS bigtime (15 mpg city) and that's by actual calculation, not by the trip computer. The car does seem to idle a tiny bit rough, but is not misfiring or anything.

I have the car tuned to run a little rich. But to answer your question plugs should have nothing to do with A/F

thanks shyne.

so will probably keep my oem coil along with my magnecor wires....

wait a min....magnecor? Also a waste of money? this time i wouldnt say so...

not a waste of money...true

increase in performance? no

They will just last longer, in higher heat, and will be consistent in its power delivery to the spark plugs throughout its lifetime :)
