Oh, here's something you may not have known about your R... There is no oil low indicator!!

Um there is a low oil pressure indicator "idiot light" on the dash under the tach. It lights up when you turn the key to the first position, its the same image that is on your oil cap.

I think he's talking about a Low Oil LEVEL indicator.

The Gen 1's just have the plain-jane Low/No Oil PRESSURE idiot light.

Fine by me. I check the oil at every fillup just outta habit anyway.

Been doing that with every car I've ever had. Can't stop now!

Nope, it ran almost bone dry and the idiot light never came on. It did come on twice for a brief moment after I realized I was low. I had no idea how low it was till we kept pouring oil in and checking the dip and it not registering. Even if I had checked it at each fill up I would not have notice. It blew out quick. My mechanic said it does not indicate low oil.

I check regularly now too

I found the way to turn off the traction control on my '06 V70R. Press the DSTC button five times in sucession to turn of the system. Makes a huge difference to a quick launch in advanced setting.

DUH

Everyone knows (or should know) this.

We all have since the spring of 2003

Does this even apply to '98-00? :(

My '00 didn't even have a TRACS Or DSTC switch till I added one. Which is another thing folks may not know about. You can add one not sure if it helps I still got stuck in the snow. IIRC the switch might have helped.

I've added the switch on mine too dude...it helps! After getting my ABS module fixed, I tested it by launching the car in both modes...with Tracs turned off...it was hella fun as all 4 broke loose in a tire frying fit...lolol. With Tracs kept on...she just launched and went.

How in the world do you add a TRACS switch to a car that doesn't already have one? Does this apply to a '98?

No. Maybe for '99 def for '00. Install is just pop off the cover panel and add the DTC or TRACS switch, its already pre-wired. And its technically DTC not TRACS.

I installed a "TRACS" button for two reasons.

1: I think no one really knows what STC means, and

2: the TRACS switch is actually CHEAPER to buy :( (by almost 10 bucks for whatever reason)! (IRRC)

Man...You are just baitin' me, aren't ya, Jim? :D

OK- Straight from the OM:

TRAction Control System (TRACS)/Stability and Traction Control (STC)

I prefer " Shitty Traction Control".

1st Gen STC is just plain junk. The stability control NEVER works (at least on any 99-00 FWD I've ever driven) and the traction control portion is even worse (if you can believe that!!!) that the "base" 96-98 tracs).

In conclusion, you may as well have nothing, (you DO have nothing)!
