GrouseV70XC
I find the parts department at Volvo of Lisle to be very helpful. However, I find the service department to be extremely impersonal. They seem to be more comfortable telling you what your car needs, and get a snooty attitude if you come in there actually knowing a little about your car. Labor is $95/hour, and a 30k service will run you a little over $500. I'd really like to hear if anyone else has any positive or negative experiences with Volvo of Lisle. Also, anyone every try K&G Saab and Volvo repair in Downers Grove (independent shop). I was thinking of trying them out.
Guest Guest_Mike_*
Volvo of Lisle has been the most disappointing car dealer experience i've ever had. their service dept. is an absolute mess. i have an 04 V70R that has had problems with the "brake module". this is a computer part that manages ABS, Traction, and AWD. when it fails, so do those systems. Lisle replaced this part 4 times before calling a factory tech for help. i believe they only called for help this last time because i want a buy-back.while VolvoNA has offered a lame $4000 credit toward the purchase of a new R, Volvo of Lisle has offered to rape me one more time on the trade of my 04. they offered wholesale for mine ($24k, low retail is $32ish). after VolvoNA's discount, i have to come up with $11k to trade into an 05 (but otherwise identical) R. this is coming from a dealer who i paid list to 2 summers ago ($43K). i just talked to a guy who paid $37.5 for a new 05 R- and i'm sure his dealer didn't give the car away.so my question to lisle has been: how much money are you hoping to make on me? is 10K enough? how 'bout 15K? 20K? what the hell do you want?they probably made 6k on the original deal, plus 5 service visits (a dealers REAL profit center) worth god knows, plus wholesale on my trade to get into another one. once they sell my trade, that's another 6k- minimum.best of all is their "take it, or leave it" stance.so if you're looking for a new or used volvo in chicagoland, beware of Lisle's 'after the sale' attitude.
