Of course what I stated is my opinion otherwise I would have quoted somebody else! Where exactly am I being vague? What part is agreeable to you? Have you researched these topics or have expert knowledge of them that you would like to discuss? Please do so. If I would reference my post's comments to government reports, would it still be my opinion? Did you find my opinion of facts inconvenient to your beliefs?

i dont have enough time to point out all the irony and hypocracy in this statement, but for the record. wow.

Senator favors fewer gasoline formulas

ALBUQUERQUE, April 15 (UPI) -- The ranking Democrat on the Senate Energy Committee said Thursday he saw the possibility of reducing clean-burning "boutique" gasoline formulas in the nation.

Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., told an Albuquerque energy conference there was no need for the current level of some 110 individual gasoline varieties, a situation that has been blamed for contributing to supply tightness and high prices in regional gasoline markets.

The senator said later the process would involve meetings between the Environmental Protection Agency and individual state regulators to see about bringing more standardization to formulas for reformulated gasoline so fuel from one area of the country could be sold in another, thus keeping a lid on prices in the sometimes-volatile wholesale spot market.

Bingaman said the concept would likely not require amending the Clean Air Act, although the act carries an oxygenate requirement for reformulated fuels the oil industry and the state of California would like to see dropped. The industry contends it can produce fuels without using oxygenates, such as MTBE and politically popular ethanol.

The U.S. nuclear power industry, while currently generating about 20% of the nation's electricity, faces an uncertain future. No nuclear plants have been ordered since 1978 and more than 100 reactors have been canceled, including all ordered after 1973. No units are currently under active construction; the Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar 1 reactor, ordered in 1970 and licensed to operate in 1996, was the most recent U.S. nuclear unit to be completed. The nuclear power industry's troubles include high nuclear power plant construction costs, public concern about nuclear safety and waste disposal, and regulatory compliance costs.

U.S. thirst for oil puts strain on aging refineries, pipeline system

Sunday, May 30, 2004

By Wesley Brown

Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK - Many experts believe the groundwork for today's high energy prices was laid years ago, just when President George W. Bush was completing his MBA work at Harvard University and Sen. John Kerry was getting his law degree from Boston College.

The year was 1976. And that was the last time a petroleum products refinery was built in the United States.

Between 1977 and 2002, the number of U.S. refineries dropped to 153 from 282. Refining capacity over that period has increased 2.4 percent, according to the Energy Department. U.S. demand for gasoline has grown 27 percent in that period.

With the exception of a small refinery in Valdez, Alaska, no new refinery has been built in the United States in the last three decades. U.S. refinery capacity has only increased over the period because of upgrades at existing facilities. At the same time, the U.S. government ended a tax credit program in the early 1980s for oil companies that built small refineries.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Interior Secretary Gale Norton said that oil reserves in the far Northern Coastal Plain of ANWR betoken the nation's largest single prospect for future oil production - greater than any state, including Texas and Louisiana.

Secretary Norton shared statistics about ANWR's energy potential with members of the U.S. House Resource Committee during testimony this morning on Capitol Hill.

"The Administration firmly believes that we can develop energy at home while protecting the environmental values we all hold dear," Secretary Norton said. "The Coastal Plain of ANWR's 1002 area is the nation's single greatest onshore oil reserve. The USGS estimates that it contains a mean expected value of 10.4 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil. To put that into context, the potential daily production from ANWR's 1002 area is larger than the current daily onshore oil production of any of the lower 48 states."

"ANWR could produce nearly 1.4 million barrels of oil, while Texas produces just more than one million barrels a day, California just less than one million barrels a day and Louisiana produces slightly more than 200,000 barrels a day."

Secretary Norton reiterated the Interior Department's support for energy production in the far Northern Coastal Plain of ANWR - the area set aside for possible oil and gas production in 1980 by President Carter and a Democratically-controlled Congress.

"Energy production in Alaska's Northern Coastal Plain will reduce dependence on foreign oil; will create new jobs; is strongly supported by organizations that betoken working men and women; and will protect wildlife with the toughest environmental regulations ever applied.

"With American ingenuity and new technologies, we can protect the tundra and wildlife on the Northern Coastal Plain. Protections with bipartisan congressional and administration support include the following: mandated ice roads and runways to protect habitat; strict analysis of each proposed exploration side to avoid sensitive springs, streams, rivers and wetlands; removal of all facilities, structures and equipment and reclamation of all lands effected; and exploration only in the winter to protect breeding, spawning and wildlife migration patterns," Secretary Norton concluded.

Meet the new party of no

As it turns out, Howard Dean is not the best choice to lead the Democratic National Committee. If the party is looking for a new spokesman, there is a better choice--David Spade (with apologies to his Capital One ad):

Social Security reform? No. Clear some judges? No way, Jose. Find some agreement on national security? Nyet. Sure, the Democrats are struggling to find their voice, pick their leaders, and agree on a legislative strategy. It's hard work. But it's also too bad they're allowing themselves to look like a bunch of minority naysayers--defined more by old tactics than new ideas. Sad to say, the Democrats are becoming the party of no.

The rationale is inevitably tactical: Democrats are the opposition. They do not control any branch of government. So why not sit back and watch the president take on a sacrosanct program--such as Social Security--and fight with his own Republicans? And since the president hasn't yet offered his own reform blueprint, why should the Democrats? "Right now, the president asked us to give him time to have a plan," says Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel, who runs the Democratic House campaign committee. He is happy to oblige. Besides, it's not as if the president eagerly courts Democratic voices. "They are so arrogant," fumes one party strategist. "When the administration gets off its high horse, then maybe we can talk."

All well and good. But can't the Democrats walk and chew gum at the same time? Last I checked, voters in the 2004 election weren't sure what the party stood for. Given that problem, the old "give 'em enough rope" strategy to hang Republicans won't work--particularly if voters have no idea what a Democratic agenda looks like. "We're murky, obtuse, and ambivalent," says Will Marshall, president of the Progressive Policy Institute, a Democratic think tank. "The danger is that we let the tactical imperatives of opposing Bush lead us to the point of view that that's all we need to do."

Exactly. After all, since the Democrats have spent much of the past 30 years talking about saving an endangered Social Security system, how can they now say there is no problem? "If we become the do-nothing party, we become the default party," says Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, a "red state" Democrat. "We only win leadership when the other guys fail if we stand for nothing." Sure, he asks, "should the president be required to put forward a program first? Absolutely. But then should we have an alternative? Yes."

Eyeing the exits? But this isn't about solutions; it's about getting even. Democrats point to the success of Newt Gingrich and his revolutionaries, who opposed Hillary Clinton's healthcare reform plan--riding their opposition to a congressional House takeover. But they conveniently forget some important differences between 1992 and 2005: that Bill Clinton won with only 43 percent of the vote, that Gingrich also proposed an agenda-setting "Contract With America," that conservatives had already made progress with disaffected Democrats. Today, Democrats are losing support with working-class voters--most of whom trusted the president more than John Kerry to handle both terrorism and the economy. "They knew what Bush stood for," says Bayh. "We run the risk of losing our credibility if people don't know what we are for."

And it's not just on domestic policy, either. It's tempting for Democrats to say "I told you so" when CIA Director Porter Goss testifies, as he did last week, that the U.S. occupation in Iraq has become a handy recruiting tool for al Qaeda. Or to complain that a successful Iraqi election doesn't guarantee a defeat of the insurgents. But do the Democrats really want to rally behind the Ted Kennedy "bring the troops home now" refrain? "This is not the time for casting anxious glances towards the exits," writes Marshall in an open letter to Democrats.

Ironically, it's the Republicans who understand the Democrats' predicament. "We were the party of no since the 1930s," a top White House aide told me. "It took Ronald Reagan and his 'Morning in America' for us to get out of that mind-set and start proposing solutions to problems." And there is no going back. No way. Never.

Conclusion

Growing trade deficits with China have displaced production supporting 1.5 million U.S. jobs since 1989. The rate of job displacement is accelerating, especially since China entered the WYO> China’s entry into the world trading system was supposed to open up its vast domestic markets to products around the world, and the United States engaged in extensive negotiations with China to ensure it obtained its share of benefits. These benefits have yet to materialize. Instead multinational companies from around the world have used protections for investment and intellectual property provided by the WTO to rapidly expand investment, production , and exportation from that country. The United States remains China’s primary market for exports. In just 15 years China has rapidly transformed its export profile from one dominated by clothing, shoes, and plastic products, to one in which electronics, machinery, transportation equipment, other fabricated metals, chemicals, and medical equipment account for more than half of exports. China’s leading-edge industries are gaining increased market share in the motor vehicle and aerospace sectors, which have provided the most durable foundations for the United States’ industrial base for generations. That shift, in turn, reduces the demand for high-technology workers and highly skilled business professionals in the United States. It is hard to overstate the challenges posed by this export behemoth.

The program Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on The Moon? seen on FOX television network (2/15/01) advanced the claim that NASA's Apollo Moon missions were a giant hoax. The claim was largely supported by alleged "anomalies" in Apollo photos. David Percy, an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, told FOX: "Our research suggests that images of the Apollo landings are not a true and accurate record. In our view the Apollo pictures were faked. Many of the images are replete with inconsistences and anomalies." Are Percy and other Apollo skeptics correct? Let's examine their claims.

Berlin, Germany

Name: Kerry Painter

When: 1992

Circumstance: I was buying groceries in the American commissary in Berlin back in 1992. Standing in front of me in the line to pay was this fat man with a armload of red meat. He looked familiar. I struck up a conversation. He said he and his wife drove up from Luxembourg to get some American food. I didn't ask him about his music plans or even that I knew he was Elvis. I know how stars get bothered by fans all the time. No one else in line seemed to recognize him. We paid for our groceries, said goodbye, and he drove off. It was nice meeting him. I remember as if it happened yesterday.

BEIJING, China -- Chinese authorities are investigating several apparent sightings of a legendary 'ape-like' beast at a nature reserve in the central Hubei province.

The mythical creature, suspected by locals to be a 'Bigfoot', was apparently seen by six people, including a journalist in the Shennongjia Nature reserve on Sunday afternoon, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Local legend has it that the reserve is home to the half-man, half-ape creature but several high-profile searches in the past three decades have failed to find any evidence of its existence.

Speculation the 'Bigfoot' could be a descendant of apes mounted after China's state media reported several years ago that scientist had found fossilized teeth of giant primates in the area.

The latest sighting described the creature as a grayish ape-like animal, the Xinhua report said, about 1.65-meters tall with shoulder length black hair.

A vehicle carrying the journalist and five others was making a turn when the occupants saw the creature moving fast across the road, the Xinhua report said.

By the time the vehicle had stopped, the animal had disappeared.

The passengers found several 30 centimeter-long (12 inches) footprints and newly broken branches in the jungle near the road, the report said.

They also claimed to have discovered a three-meter-long (9.9 feet) patch of "foul smelling urine-like liquid" on the road where the creature was seen.

While some scientists theorize the creature could be the missing link between primates and humans, other hypotheses say it may be a bear, monkey or an elaborate hoax.

Ok everyone now that i have some things taken care of here i can start progessing in my tuning. Everyone wants me to give you guys step by step and as much info as possible. I will start from the beginning and hopefully you guys can keep this thread going and i will report all data and tuning in this thread.

Overall tuning started with Upsolute. Then the map was changed to Rica. Right now i have the Base Map we created to get the car up and running and at a decent point to start tuning. This has been done. Boost was set at 1.5Bar. After my first dyno 346whp and 299ftlbs i was able to see where the car stood at. Now boost on the dyno was 1.1Bar in 3rd and 4th gear. That is .4Bar off what it should be. Give the boost level and the Fueling (12.1 from 4200-7800Rpm) the hp result was not bad. The thing i do not like is the torque curve which was very low.

Just because its in the news does not make it true or intelligent
