Last time I checked, the Republican party was FOR the Death Penalty. And the state where Dubaya comes from executes more people than any other state.

I don't think there is one single Democrat that believes in abortion as the First Option / Only Option / or Preferred Option. They believe that it is the Womans choice to decide if Abortion is an Option. That is all they ask, give A person the right to Choose.

What is wrong with allowing yourself to be killed if your medical condition will not improve, you are going to die anyway and living will only cause more and more pain. Not to mention more medical bills that either their family or the Taxpayers will have to pay. Possibly leading to bankruptcy of a family which now because of Republicans most people will either not qualify for or will still have to repay a large sum of the balance.

They will fight to protect the rights of that Dirtbag because they know they want the same to be done for them. There are plenty of people in this country that are falsely accused of a crime. The problem with our society is that when somebody is accused they are automatically assumed Guilty until proven Innocent.

For a party that is supposedly against Big Government, wants less Government over individual rights, it sure appears to me that they want the Government to dictate every little thing you can do with your life.

When 200,000 people died in a Tsunami GW decides it is not important to act immediately and waits two days before acting.

However he decides it is important to attempt to save the life of somebody that is medically brain dead and immediately flies back to Washington to assist the cause. Then you have the idiotic Majority leader saying he reviewed tapes of her condition and says, hey she looks ok to me. I think whatever school issued his medical diploma should revoke it.

In reality the Democrats are the party of Life. Because they feel you should be able to live that life anyway you see fit.

Republicans are the party of death. Because they feel you should live your life according to their rules. If you don't then you are Un American, Un Wise or Un Wanted.

Remeber the Saying, "Give me liberty or give me death." Well, the Republicans are taking away our liberty so all that is left is death.

Interesting to note that once again the Republicans remain the party of liberty and of life. Democrats remain the party of abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide – the party of death! Unless of course that person is a terrorist or other society ne'er do well, than they will fight to protect that dirtbag with fervor.

Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains."

My friend, a funny kid, remarked "You know what you do with vegetables? Eat them!"

Jest aside, it's retarded what's going on. Honestly, I don't give a flying monkey what they want to do wither her. The only person I can speak for is myself, and I'd rather die than be sitting there as a vegetable. And don't give me any crap about how she isn't a vegetable. She is. So shut up. Go watch her brain impulses on a monitor.

My issue is that this is an issue. What the HECK is the Supreme Court doing getting involved in any of this? What, for that matter, is any government getting involved in this for? It's NOT a governmental issue, sorry. It's between the husband and parents, and they're the only ones who should be invovled. Period. I always thought it was the policy of conservatives to favor smaller, less-intrusive government. This is about the most intrusive government I've ever seen.

By the way, even if she does get her feeding tube reinserted, we're gonna see that she *still* won't come out of her vegetative state. The record is like 20 months, and it's already been over 10 years. She's gone, guys.

For the record, both of my grandparents died this last summer. Both were put on hospice and allowed to die. Think of it this way: When you digest food, or even drink water, certain bodily functions need to ramp up energy consumption to perform their tasks. With no feeding tube, your organ systems can shut down while you are, essentially, asleep. You feel no hunger or thirst. Now, if you continue forcing food and water down your throat, all of those systmes have to operate, using energy and, presumably, causing pain.

In fact, putting her feeding tube back in now would be just about the creulest thing you could do.

Let's invade Syria to get this crap off the front page.

I'm sick of hearing about this asinine issue... It's not my business or anyone else's who picks up a copy of USA Today or whatever on their way to work.

The whole thing comes down to money. The Husband got a big grant to aid her to get better, he didn't spend it on her, but bought things for himself. I recon he's hiding something, that only she knows about. He's scared, doen't want her to come round, 'cause he'll get locked up or something. Personally, i think he should for fraud anyway. I fully agree with the parents struggle to get her back. For those of you who have kids, don't tell me you wouldn't do any different. I think the husband should be shot in the head, with something that hurts before it kills him.

Grant to get her better? You sure about that? If anything he got a 1 mil from mal practice lawsuit but it is all gone now on court fees/lawyer fees/ and the astronomical hospital fees. He was also offered money to save her.. so if it was about money why does he still proceed?

About the parent thing, I talked extensively with my parents about this. We decided it would be a tough situation. But I mean you have to move on eventually. There is no chance terri will "come" " out of this. She is to spend her life bedridden for god knows how many years. I don't think that is very fair to her. I can see where her parents are comming from. And in response to just that, they never should have used extraordinary means when they did 15-14 years ago. Not being in the situation at this moment, it is tough to decide. But I do believe I would allow my child the right to die. And like I said it is hard to say because I'm not in that situation right now. But I do truly think that it is unfair to her at this moment to not allow her to die and do whatever comes next (assuming something happens). If you think about it at the moment she is in purgatory. And for any of you who have ever had religion classes purgatory is reffered to as hell in most cases. That is just my view on it, like being stock in a glass box, everyone can see you no one can hear you.

This could be quoted later to pull your what ever, be careful it's only hear say and is much like any talk when a bunch of people get together and see something like her on tv. The comments are "I'd never want to live that way". Comments like that are made by lots of people but it's a lot different than if you have it put in writing and made legal. It's like the causual I'll kill you if you do that. Not really meant but said all the time.

I know what you mean and I'm not trying to start anything, but if the child is an adult and they have something in writing you have no say so, no mater what your attachment to the person is.

The adult (your child) has writes, but you don't have the right to all them to have rights, see what I mean.

Did they have living wills? If they did, there was no allow, it was their decision and everyone HAD to let it happen not like there is a choice there. I've heard siblings say I allowed my X, Y, Z to die, but in fact they had nothing to do do with it cause there was a living will in place that fully expresses the adults decisions about things when decision can't be made by them. That is why is is so important that every responsible adult have something in writing, so others don't have to make decisions that they should never have to make.

Your beliefs are misguided in the fact that the death penalty is placed upon heinous murderers. Abortion is a death penalty placed upon innocent unborn, whose only sin is the original sin of man. The Declaration of Independence promised a goal of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Is that reserved only for the born? On March 23, 1775, when Colonel Patrick Henry gave his notable speech on behalf of supporting the freedom from Great Britain,, somehow I don't think that he ever considered ending another living persons life as a matter of saving someone else from inconvenience.

The problem with Terri's case is the absence of a Living Will. The reset of your dissertation upon Republican leadership is just more mistruths on fact. Here is what really occured.

FRIST'S COMMUNICATION DIRECTOR COMMENTS ON SCHIAVO CASE

US Senator William H. Frist, M.D.

March 24th, 2005 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist’s Communication Director Bob Stevenson made the following statement regarding the Terri Schiavo case:

“Bill Frist has helped save hundreds of lives in operating rooms throughout the world. For him a woman's life...every life...is precious.

“Before addressing the Senate concerning Terri Schiavo last Thursday, Senator Frist carefully reviewed medical information, records, video tapes and sworn affidavits that were in the court records. He spoke with physicians involved in the case. He noted that some doctors have concluded she is not in a persistent vegetative state and could improve with therapy.

“The suggestion by some that Senator Frist was making a `diagnosis' in the Schiavo case is absurd. Nowhere in his comments was he substituting his opinion for others. But with medical experts split on Terri Schiavo's condition and a woman's life at stake, he suggested the court solicit additional tests and attempt to reach a medical consensus on her condition. Specifically, he recommended current and complete neurological examinations, which she has not had, using the most up-to-date medical technologies.

“The fact the bill passed with bipartisan support and without dissent would indicate Republicans and Democrats alike agreed with his assessment that the courts should at the very least solicit additional medical evidence in this case. When medical facts are in dispute we should always err on the side of life.”

I love these threads. Lots of good points, lots of whack ones. Most are opinions though and as such cannot really be wrong. Here is my take:

Living Will = Good

Death Penalty = Good

Abortion = Good

Government running lives = Bad

Media = Bad

Unborn Child = No rights

So CNN, Fox. Get off this already. Back to Micahel Jacksons PJs and school shootings!

BTW, I have a LW. States in the event I have lost brain function for more than 12 months to pull the plug. A coma is one thing, but when you have lost brain function for 15 years.... your just a shell.

Oh did you guys here Terri's take on this? I hear she has nothing to say about it.
