morphine is the crudest form of the opiates... cheap, fast, but with funky side-effects. oxycontin is a much finer form..with less side effects. all opiates are addictive...and without the side-effects, even worse. then after prolonged use, ur body becomes numb to opiates..

This is the second time recently that Judges have made power grabs over the congress which is esentially the people.  Congress gets elected, judges don't.  Judges have made abortion legal over the will of the public.  Judges have made Homosexual marriage legal over the will of the public.  Judges have barred the death penalty on minors over the will of the public.  It seems that we are having rule by the minority.  If you can't get it passed into law it seems you have another shot.  Just find a radical judge to find somehow that it is constitutional and it will get imposed upon us.

hmm...then all minority rights gained in the civil war and 60s/70s are incorrect because the rights of the minority is insignificant to the majority?

same sex marriage is touchy... but when u consider that domestic partners are resposible for their partners' debt and other liable things, then why is it fair to ask the domestic parter to pay for their significant other's debt, but they cannot get the same marriage benefits a marriage entitles them to such as health insurance and tax breaks...

btw.. can i ask what same sex marriage is to you? i mean really, what does two g*y/les people getting married and having the proper title have anything whatsoever to do with you?

edit: hehe..no g*y words allowed...so happy marriage = same sex marriage

Thats a lot, when I had my Lipo they gave me lots of morphine, I was taking 1mg everyone couple of hours and that was more then enough, but 10mg, holy stuff, that would be fun! :D;)

I don't really care much about same sex marriage (except for calling it marriage as it isn't). Domestic partnerships are fine by me. Factor in some of them are scamming for benefits (especially from the university) I would love to see it be a more binding thing like an official domestic partner status. That way they realize what real marriage like contracts are about when a partner legally walks away with half of their stuff.

What I do care about is 5% of the population making law when over 75% of the population is against it. If you can't pass a law through the legislature then it doesn't get passed. No backdooring it through activist Judges. Even in the PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia) happy "marriage" was voted down by over 60% of the people yet now it is considered lawful.

There is a different between rights and wants. We all have the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That is universal. I don't have the rigth to go around calling my self the King of England and asking for all kinds special privledges. Or actually I do, but nobody has to grant me this. Treating people equal should be the way things are done as a rule. Giving people special status because they are a minority is wrong and only tends to keep people down.

As far as morphine goes it doesn't take away all the pain. I've been on a morphine drip before and you can definitely still feel a lot of pain. It dulls the pain and knocks you out, but it doesn't get rid of it.

As to the Sciavo case we may never know what is going on. No real medical analyzis of the woman was done. No real brain scans, very few doctors who weren't selected by M. Sciavo and no rehabilitation was done. Shouldn't we have at least given her a fighting chance? At least tried therapy? At least used some of the money supposedly won to take care of her to actually take care of her and not put her to death?

Oh, and one really important question. I understand pulling the feeding tube as a matter of law. But not allowing people to give her water through ordinary means is just cruel. Feeding somebody who can't do it themselves isn't exactly what we call extraordinary means of keeping somebody alive. How can this be allowed to happen to a livin human being?

Getting OT with the happy Marriage stuff here, hehe. I understand the objections the title of "Marriage", I think civil unions are an accpetable solution for all parties.

On the topic of poor Terri: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7328639/ Just look at the CTs. She's a vegetable. Let the poor woman die in peace, this isn't the public's business. It's been through SO many courts so many times, I don't see how there could be any doubts left... Is starving her to death while she's too high on morphine to feel any pain the best solution? Nope, but euthanasia is illegal.

The only benefit of this being made public is that I think it's made many people write a living will. I know I did.

I agree that it is not the publics business, but sadly even after she dies it will be in the public. And the Euthanasia statement == soo true. But the only way to get it done is this way...

Ok, now I'm pissed. After watching those loser priests on the today show this morning, now I have to read about the Vatican Cardinal saying it was an affront to God himself.

Look you religious num-nuts, 50 years ago nothing would have kept Terri's shell alive. Science is the only thing doing it. Does anyone not see the colossal hypocrisy here? Not to mention the fact she is a vegetable. Do they actually think her soul is still in that carcass? And if it is, don't you think she's in a nightmarish condition? And then, what are they so afraid of? She's going to heaven everlasting, so what's the big deal?

I hope I have religion someday, that way I can lose the ability to reason.

You know what I thought was pretty ironic...the fact that she died of starvation. I'm not sure if anyone knows, but the reason she became a veg. in the first place was because when she was bulimic years ago, her heart stopped, and she sufferred brain damage. What a way to go, she died of the exact thing that she was doing to herself to begin with....

Some people look at religion as a way to explain things... others not.

Ken I agree with you. Imagine being trapped in a cave people know you are there but do nothing to help you.

And yeah it is sorta ironic ...

Obviously a fair generalization of and attack on all people who are religious.
