Nativeman23
Hello all I just installed mine, when i find the cable for my camera i will put up some pics, i left the stock solenoid hooked up up stream of the boost controller, it doesn't affect it. I used the forge motor sports unos boost controller from www.horsepowerfreaks.com I have had no problems from it, but just intalling it inline fresh out the box pushed my engine to 10psi. no other mods right now besides the boost gauge. I was able to do 12lbs easy not trying for more till i get an intake.
Nativeman23
ea,the top line there is your compressor(red line) A\and the one you have loose is the waste gate(yellow)donut, I would not run more than 12lbs, mostly for the fuel pump the injectors can take it as the stock injectors on the s40 are 420cc but I don't know about the fuel pump itself. Odin2347
hey purchased a NXS MBC off amazon a few days ago for my s40 1.9t and went about putting it in today with the instructions from the first page. Not sure if I did it right. Don't have a boost gauge yet so hard to judge the boost i'm getting. Here's a picture also wondering if zip ties are good enough to hold the hose in? I notice when I step off the gas a sound of air being pushed out. Not sure where this is coming fromthanks
R11CKSO
you should bypass the boost control solenoid, is better this way, you'll get more stable boost and is waaaaaay better check the other How-to it tells exactly how to do it, and one advice man always put a gauge before you twist your MBC because if you overboost you might be running lean and damage seriously your car you can get one for like 10 bucks and its very easy to fit... also that way you can know if you have leaks as well... daveherz827
Anyone got the links for either bypassing the bcs or adjusting waistgate.. If not the link for bcs at least let me know which way to turn the nut on the arm Hahahaha
theForgottenone
Less thread showing on the nut is tighten = hold more boost.
Appleyard
i thought i wouldnt have to adjust the wastegate, since the hallman mbc states it can increase boost up to 30psi ... is the arm on the wastegate easy to get to?
arrtchiu
It is easy to get to.Remove heat shields.Remove retaining pin holding wastegate arm. Remove 2 bolts holding wastegate to compressor housing.Remove wastegate. Adjust arm.Reattach. MBC might hold 30psi but your turbo can't produce that... daveherz827
Now are we tightening it? Making it held slightly open? Or are we trying to show more threads? I've always questioned how to do this
Appleyard
MBC might hold 30psi but your turbo can't produce that...oh i know, i was just saying that the MBC can do that and i know others on here produce more than 12.5psi with the 12T which makes me think that something might be off about my set up. but im not sure on what it could be
arrtchiu
Now are we tightening it? Making it held slightly open? Or are we trying to show more threads? I've always questioned how to do thisLess threads showing means the wastegate actuator has to push further to open the wastegate.Further it has to push to open = more boost needed to open = holds more boost.oh i know, i was just saying that the MBC can do that and i know others on here produce more than 12.5psi with the 12T which makes me think that something might be off about my set up. but im not sure on what it could bePossibilities:- Wastegate needs adjusting (as xcites40 suggested)- Bypass valve ("BOV") leaking- Some other boost leak- Damaged turbo- Exhaust leak before turbo- Clogged cat causing exhaust backpressureMost likely one of the first two.
