Kejbee
Fun and cheap trick butyour engine gets a higher pressure ,more air needs more fuel. I have a few friends who melted their pistons by adding a "boost control". I dont know the terms in english, but i can tell you that its not recomendable. If you want to do this anyway you should have a boostmeter(?). The stock program can compensate up to 0,3bar.
bond1318
huh? .3 bar is only 4.3 psi dude. the stock system generates 8.7 psi , which is .6 bar. plus, the s40 has a fuel cut off that doesnt allow you to do something stupid like melt your pistons. if the boost gets too high, it cuts everything off, to prevent things like that from happening. but i still stand by my observation that i have mine set at 12 psi, and i dont recommend setting it any higher (unless you have an upgraded turbo, or an ecu upgrade) since the car is running slightly rich (hence the less gas mileage). but at any rate, i've been running the car this way for a year now and i havent had anything happen to my car, just spent a little more on gas . but seriously, i dont know if its different in europe than it is in america, but the cars that you buy here have all kinds of counteractive measures to keep power hungry americans like me from blowing their cars up. Kejbee
What i ment was 0,3 bar + the origin pressure you have from turbo. But ok you seem to know what you are doing. Good luck.

bond1318
i know thats what i was telling aManCalledSun when he was asking if removing the solenoid would turn off the check engine light, which the answer is no. its the ecu that trips the check engine light and the only way to overboost without the check engine light is to chip the ecu.Kejbee wrote on Thu, 04 December 2003 13:08By the way, how much BHP/Nm do you have in a stock 1,9T and what octane are tou running on?160/175 stock (i dont know Nm, i know lb-ft) and 93 octane (premium unleaded). with the extra boost its probably.. o i dunno.. maybe equivalent to 180 or 185 hp?? its purely guessing the new hp/torque, ive never dyno'd or anything

bond1318
i dunno what comes with the s40 in the states. i think its the 14t, but i may be wrong. but i do know that my turbo is rated up to 16 psi, and i only boost at 12 or
cs40racing
12TI am currently maxxed at 19psi.Please take into account those of you who want high boost exhaust flow and intake plays an important role in safely running high boost. Kejbee
The 1.9t sold in europe is also called T4 has 200 BHP and the 2.0t has 160 in phase 1 and 165 in phase 2. The T4 has a fullboost turbo called 14t. The 2.0t phase 2 has a twinscroll turbo which gives a little more BHP. In sweden are the lowest octane 95RON and at some stations you can buy 101RON, the most coomon is to use 98RON.
bond1318
i think octane ratings in europe are different. in america, 93 is the highest you can buy at your everyday gas station. you can get higher, but its costs a ton, and is usually only for racing situations or special applications. and yes, the twin-scroll turbo is what i have. sleepyheadzzz
BrianT wrote on Wed, 03 December 2003 17:00i didnt think the stock turbo was capable of holding that kind of pressure. how much psi can i increase with the Upsolute chip set to about 13psi??? VERY soon comes the 3in downpipe.theres this very crazy guy who has his s40 at 19psi, but he has intercooler and aftermarket exhausti'm currently at 15psi with my upsolute chip....without an aftermarket intercooler i've seen ppl run up to 16-17 psi

Tha car feels with more power than if the solenoid is controlling the boost.
bond1318
is your stock solenoid removed? if it is.. well then i shouldnt have to ask.. post a how-to!
FluidGroove
Heres some pics, maybe you could add to your how-to bond for what the turbo XS boost controller looks like and without clips for the stock air box...
