tomedkaz1568908563
Matthew wrote on Tue, 02 January 2007 02:49I'm in, but will you post to Australia free?unfortunately I will not post to australia free - only domesticOKay a little update: I visited about ten shops asking about doing it, and I found two that would. One guy said flat out $60 each so i said forget it. Then I walk into the other shop and the guy tells me that his "boss" is out, but from what he knows his boss would charge "around $40 each". I told him that I'll need 8 of them, so he said "in that case, around $35"I need to go to the airport now so I will not be able to do it today, but perhaps tomorrow after work I could do it. I say I'll do one first, just to see how the bends are and will show you the photos. Then, if you guys like it, you'll paypal me whatever he charges me (maybe less - i'll try to negotiate it, because maybe i could get my catback there) and i'll go there and get it done. so stay tuned .... i think it's looking good

tomedkaz1568908563
I went to the shop again tonight (couldnt wait) and spoke to the owner who said that aluminum pipe will be too expensive, so tomorrow he'll bring some samples of galvanized steel (or stainless...not sure) to show me, but said it should not be a problm bending, fitting and what not. I"ll buy one first to show him I'm serious about it and if you guys are up for it I'll be able to get each and every one of you this pipe, and i say the more the better....., so the list will have to be complete before I go there with your orders.more updates tomorrow evening...i actually have to go to work during the day...go figure... How about stainless? Can anyone else confirm that?
GerBeGurGya
Stainless is a hard material to work with and frankly I would think stainless would cost more than the ALU.Other than that the stainless should work fine.

GerBeGurGya
The galvanized pipe comes rusty from the factory most of the time. There are several different ones tho like EMT or rigid. The rigid one has a thick wall and can not be bended on a short distance like we need without loosing the smoothness on this diameter inside the curve. The EMT is a welded pipe with a thinner wall and at the joint it is rusty already. Both pipe will loose some layer of the protective Galvan when you bend it.Its just can not stay on the surface. The Galvan layer is a really thin layer and the smallest spot of rust will be bigger in no time.Even if the pipe could be bended without loosing the Galvan layer the continuous moisture being introduced every cold start will get the pipe rusty. You don't want rust getting into the engine that would be catastrophic. The Galvan material wanna stick on the outside of the pipe and not on the inside. This is how this technology works.I can not tell it on English but this is about physic. This also true for the chrome or any other material they put on the metal. It sticks on the outside only. There is a technology they can make it stick on the inside but that actually almost no need for it as far as business goes as actually not too many times people want it that way..
