What Would You Buy?

Hey guys I want to know something and please be truthful. What products do you want to see from vms. basically what would you buy from them. I would like to know because It seems that there are only a few of us that support vms. ( I have to tell you that every product that I have purchased from them has proven to be well worth the money).

Dont get me wrong, I buy stuff from other suppliers but I so far have not had the support like vms gives (of course they are the only ones that really know stuff about racing and what will work and what wont.)

so give me some feedback please.

thanks ;)

If going n/a why stick w/ the 2.4L ?? why not make it as big as they can. maybe see about having a custom stroker crank and have a 2.7 or 2.8L motor or so, as big as they can make it for an n/a setup

and hm... why not custom turbo headers.. for the cost of a ported manifold i'm sure one could build and sell a custom header for a little more and there be much more gains in power, yes you might need some new custom lines to and from the turbo but that's all part of the big gain.

a nice n/a header would be great but i couldn't see to many people really wanting one besides maybe 3-4 people as if there are STOCK turbo motors why even bother with an n/a setup??

y not custom intake manifolds. with a good tig welder($$$$$$$$$) one could do a really simple manifold that could really change the powerband tho stock setup does have some nice long runners as is .. so why not a setup with really short runners.

but the biggest thing i think they SHOULD make(those^^ are just bsing) is hipo cams, as i know on my little 4cyl motor the cam i got from sweeden really woke my motor up. and a nice set of turbo ground cams would help these motors move that power curve way up top ...

all in all from what i've seen and heard about the VMS setups and products i really wish i had an 850 and could afford those as its a great way to build a solid car. but there are so just many other area's of performace that they could focus on but R&D costs a lot of time and $ to do all of those things so

the deck hiegth is going to restrick the max stroke. They can possibly move the wrist pin up a little and regrind the crank to add some stroke length

the stock 3.270" by 3.54" = 2.4L they could bore the block to 3.30" by 3.71" and get a 2.6L The 2.4L block is stroked just about as much as it will take. Also you have to take piston speed into cosideration. A set of headers will make a difference on any car bone stock or all out race cars. the short runner length intake is great when you are turning 6000RPM's continuously but the long runner length gives good torque and a broader power band, the key to any engine are the cams. The cams should always be degreed to get the most accuracy and power.

Cams are on the way, give them time.

Some of you may be shocked to learn that most of VMS's support doesn't come from these boards. :o And that they're more in touch with their market than a bunch of blau bangle kids on the internet.

Personally I feel that VPtuning and EST offer more products that appeal to ME than VMS does. But we'll see how the VMS turbo kit works out, because it sounds like quite a deal, and it would be as unique as their blocks.

I found VMS before I joined this board but never though much about them. I would I would be very interested in a rebuild kit that combined with cams, computer, headers, etc that would give 280-300 crank HP and 240+ ft lbs

I think a NA buildup would be awesome. 2.5L stroker kit that could wind up to 7000+ rpm with specific output of 100hp/L.

BTCC style yo. TRW got 300 crank HP out of their race engine so I wouldn't hope for that type of output for a DD.

Actually, if someone was going to put out a tested nitrous kit for these cars I would be interested.

For all you guys that are really looking for kits etc for your car have you ever thought of calling vms. Many people dont realize that vms will do anything for you just as long as you can afford it. I sorry if this sounds mean, but you guys need to realize that when you start building race ,machines it is not cheap at all. look at the top drag cars and all those import fans. the stuff adds up. So when you want something done right you need to go all out or not at all. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT VMS DOESNT HAVE EVERYTHING ON THERE WEBSITE. this is why i would recommend talking to vms. give them a call. Thats how I got half the stuff I have on my car.

Mcevoy is right on that, VMS does make a naturally aspirated motor that turns out 300hp, but there's not really any point in putting it on the website. They'd just get a lot of questions and waste a lot of time on a segment that does a lot of talk, and basically buys nothing.
