Wet patch....Oil, water...what could be leaking?

I have a spare upper hose, Febi brand (which is the OEM hose). You wouldn't need to spend an arm and a leg for it. The problem with any brand of that hose unless it's full silicon, is that the plastic elbow tends to crack and SPLIT open due to heat over time. That's what happened to mine which lead to the motor overheating and then causing the head gasket to blow. Which I think eventually attributed to the piston ring going bad... That occurred on the piston of the cylinder that the head gasket was leaking into.

Hi all,

So the mechanic put a SWAG aftermarket top hose on to replace the original that maybe the leak issue.

Cost $105 including tax

They stated that the OEM cost $280AU!

Also they broke a clip(wornout) that holds the black hose(beside the Volv"O" written ontop of the motor) that runs underneath the Silver Turbo air pipe. Do I need to get the clip replaced asap?

So I took it back and cannot prove they broke it or just worn out.

They suggested a cable tie to hold the Fuel line in place.

I rang Volvo parts after I found the part number which I believe is: http://www.myswedishparts.com/volvo/s40/982370/2003-year/base-trim/1-9l-l4-gas-engine/fuel-system-cat/fuel-system-components-scat/?part_name=filler-pipe-clamp

They could not find the number on their system?

They said not one in Australia and never been asked for one.

Took back to mechanic and they said it would cost at least $6Au to import from Sweden but may not be the same clip\clamp!

Will the cable tie interfere with the fuel line flow....is there a metal pipe inside the outer foam?

Volvo told me the upper hose costs $216.85 at cost price.....I note myswedishparts sale and free shipping could get it hear for about $130AU!

Will post some pics of broken clip clamp :(

Sounds a bit dramatic.  That clip isn't supporting much.  I would simply try to glue or epoxy the clip back together.  Or,  you can place a piece or rubber hose on the metal hard line to isolate it from the power steering line and loosely place a ziptie around them.  All that clip does is hold the power steering line up.

So here is the clip location on the Fuel line.

The second is what the clip should look like.

The third is the new Swag Hose

What is this Green clip and is it an issue in current place?

Where should it be?

1) I've broken those clips all over the place, you could probably steal one from the ones on the coolant reservoir tank hose if you wanted.

2) No comment on the aftermarket hose

3) My fuel rail connector has that green piece dangling also, no big deal.

4) Can't edit posts at the moment unless you're a cool kid mod (I feel your pain)
