NEU
Welcome Subaru clan. I love these cars and wouldn't mind to get a beater Outback/Forester/Legacy wagon for another car. When I got my wife's Forester XT Limited I ordered everything too, lots of cool stuff except my Nav/DVD/stereo is a POS, nav was never great and now a DVD is stuck in it. We got the extended warranty for $1000 and it's covered. The head unit alone was $1500 to replace so the warranty is worth it for headaches like that. Yours is the Limited, but is it 2.5 or the H6? I tried to get my dad to pick up a 2014 Outback H6 Limited with Special appearance package, but he ended up leasing a POS 2015 Jeep (Fiat) Cherokee... flyfishing31568908306
we went with the 2.5: 1. we wanted the better gas mileage. We still have her sequoia for hauling etc. 2. it was 3k for the 3.6. not worth it IMO. We didn't go with the extended. I'm a little nervous. The F&I guy said look- the engine and the tranny won't be the issue, its the 43 different computers that will go. i'm still not sure i don't want to get it. Dropped all my fun cash and i don't want to dig to deep to get it but not sure. the Nav system seems pretty decent. i would of layed it out different but its Ok. flyfishing31568908306
the color is a mix of a gray and beige. Pretty classy IMO. now i'd rather have a new V90 but this was a great deal.
NEU
I'd seriously get the extended warranty. We've burned thru half of the stock warranty. Also the new 2.5 FB25 isn't as robust of an engine as the old 2.5 EJ. Subaru just settled a class action lawsuit about excessive oil consumption for the FB25. I believe they have the issue fixed but the older engine is much stronger and they continue to use them in the STI to take the abuse. The FB25 is an eco engine to get better MPG and tied with the CVT trans it's not bad. My wifes older turbo EJ with the 4sp gets about 19-20 mpg average. Stormtrooper1
So how are you liking the outback after all this time? im still rocking the Orange Crosstrek. Had a weird issue with the alignment being way off and eating my tiers on a long summer road trip, but Subaru ate the cost of that (though I'm out the cost of the new "emergency" tires.) i did get the extended warranty so whatever. Im sort of wishing for something larger these days. I almost leased an outback when we got the Crosstrek. But a highlander with some towing compactly would be nice. I don't think I'm going to change anytime soon.... (unless I can convince the wife to get a small camper)
NEU
The Foresters are nice and big, but still based on the Impreza platform. The current body is stretched over the pervious body style and gives the rear passenger more leg room over the XV...
flyfishing31568908306
we crossed 10k miles the other day. Very happy with the gas mileage so far. no noises, really haven't used the AWD in any real way yet though. I'm thinking of taking that as my work car next year and getting the wife a 4runner.
