Seems to me every time the prices hike the quality goes in the toilet I have more bad fuel problems when the price is up...makes ya' wonder

One reason the price of diesel has gone up is because DOT requires more additive in diesel now. The way it used to work each company had the option to add diesel additive. Now when the diesel comes through the pipeline and stored, additive is added. That just started this year. Also each company can add more additive if desired.

Also here in Tennessee at the oil terminal I work at, we are selling 87 for around $1.50 per gallon. At the pumps, they are charging around $2.10 and in TN there is a $0.32 tax for every gallon. Diesel is being sold for around $1.50 per gallon also, but at the pumps they are charging around $2.20 per gallon.

Oil companies would never gouge anyone...they are just passing the higher cost of crude onto the consumer and still netting the same amount...just ask them.

Oh....wait...then why did Exxon Mobil post record profits for the 1st quarter, $7.86 Billion in NET Income, a 44% profit gain? Royal Dutch had a 28% gain.

Diesel is often more expensive per galon, I believe, it's just more economical and thus less expensive per mile.

And yes, the gov't is supposedly keeping an eye on price gouging.

Over here Diesel fuel is more expensive than high octane gas, whereas a year or so ago they were about 20 cents cheaper than regular 87 octane. I tell you gas station owners and / or gas companies are gouging people. Example, there is an Exxon station that has a convienience store at a major intersection here has regular 87 octane at $2.15 and 93 octane was at $2.25, but just a little way down the street about 1/2 a mile a BP gas station with a convienience store too has their gas at $2.29 for 87 octane and $2.40 for 93 octane. Should not gas prices be pretty close in price to each other if they are buying them from the same price ??? I tell you something is not right. Why is that gas prices is say $2.15 and that day a barrel of oil goes to $60 and then gas prices jump to $2.40 ??? Is not the gas in the gas pumps now paid for when it was like $50 a barrel ??? Only reason why no one in congress or the government will not do anything is that these same gas companies contribute millions to their campaign funds, etc. We need someone to stand up for the people and not worry about how they look for re-election, etc. God Bless. :)

Here in STL, gas prices fluxuate up to 25 cents every day. I you go to stlouisgasprices.com and compare our prices with everyone elses, our graph is like the rocky mountains and everyone elses are the great plains. It's retarded. You have to time the stations because some will raise their prices from say, 2.05 (reg) to 2.28 or so at once. Then, you have to drive distances to the stations that haven't changed their prices and sit in gas lines half of the time. There have been days that I go to the gym at 5pm and when I get out at 7, gas prices have gone up 20 cents a gallon!!! For some reason the state attorney general doesn't ever do stuff about it. Its terrible, but then again, we are 10 to 15 cents below the national average most of the time, so I guess that's our tradeoff. It's a big joke.

Also, I work at AG Edwards and I keep a close eye on the daily energy report that goes out to all of the branches. They say that the only way gas will ever go down is if there is an energy crisis like in the 70's. So basically, as long as PEOPLE KEEP DRIVING SUV's AND PICKUP TRUCKS, supply will never exceed demand and gas will always be about where it is no matter who is in office. I also heard that gas will NEVER go under 2 bucks a gallon EVER again, so get used to it. Rednecks will never get rid of their pickup trucks.
