Big Tim
I have a buddy who is trying to sell his 1989 Volvo 240, and it just so happens I've been looking for one. I see a lot of people putting ls engines in these cars, but I was wondering if there's any other, potentially better options out there. I know that Volvo makes a 5 cylinder turbo that makes something like 500 hp, but I don't know where to get one and I don't know if it's more or less compatible with the 240. I was also looking at the Ford 302's just because this will be a project that I do with my dad and he's very fond of the 302's. I plan on doing some autocross and drag racing in this car, so if that makes any difference. Also, I live in the states, specifically on the east coast. and while I'm on here, any suggestions for transmissions and really any other mods that people just dipping their toes into tuner cars might miss would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!
tighe
I don't know anything about anything, but if you drop a 500hp 5 cylinder into a 240, please keep us posted! Check turbobricks, jagsthatrun, sts machining.
lowkeyturbo
A 2.3 t5 whiteblock 94-98 should be good for 370 crank unopened. With rods around 450-470 . With Rods , pistons and shims good for around 600hp. A 2.4 06-08 s60 t5 block is good for around 450hp unopened.
