YV1LW
Long time ago {03Feb2011}, Bay 13 did a write up on the moaning steering bearing (http://volvospeed.com/volvo_repairs_how_tos/steering_alignment/steering_bearing_lube.html) The pics are great, but there is no data on what year the vehicle being repaired is, nor does the how-to give any part numbers. When I look at 1998 V70R, there is a steering column boot (9461285) and a steering collar (9140164) provided in the diagram shown here (http://volvospeed.com/volvo_repairs_how_tos/steering_alignment/steering_bearing_lube.html This look suspiciously like the part in the Feb11 how-to. But I'm working with an '05 that has the moan when i turn the wheel (weather has always been warm when I experience the moan) and the only part I can find related to 2005 is 30741819 and it looks different than what is shown in the how-to. Getting to my question - is the moan/groan in the how-to specific to earlier models and does not apply to 2005 models? Is it somewhere else in the interior steering column (the sound definitely in inside the cabin) that is just NOT OBVIOUS? Thanks for any reply.
