Single VVT engine 2.5 Car Swap

Recommended Posts

I restore Volvo’s 2001-2007. Cheap good reliable cars for people.
I see many 2.5 and 2.5t with the

B52542 engine fails. Mostly, rings get hot and melt. No compression and usually, along with Questionable crankshaft... not worth rebuilding.

Prior to 2003 Volvo had a much better engine. Although most came with single VVT.

As we all know you can’t get the ECU to work either way. Single VVT car with dual VVT and reverse.
You also cannot swap out the heads

So as experimental purposes as for only my Volvo enthusiast purpose.

I milled in the already existing mount for a dual VVT set up.
drilled the ports and carefully milled out oil channel in the camshaft journal.
this allows oil to pressurize the VVT valve.
Hooked up original wire harness from my 2005 S60 and it runs!

i have driven car about 50 miles or so. But mostly I let it idle for hours and checking for leaks.

so far so good.

i do have check engine however :(

camshaft sensor or I might be slight bit off the timing.

Any thoughts or comments as I move forward would be much appreciated.

This is just for fun

thanks
