Picked this up today. I’ll post more pictures when I get a chance. But have a couple questions off the bat since it’s been so long.

The front seat bottom tilt doesn’t work with the switch, but going through the memory buttons, the seat bottoms will tilt. It’s like this on both. The seat belt buckles don’t look like 850 ones. Almost looks like someone swapped in x70 ones. I remember putting in x70 seats into my 850 and they worked completely fine. Do the switches go bad frequently? It seems weird it’s the exact same on both front seats.

Looks clean.

I believe the seat back cables? go bad and that breaks.  Mine both work fine, but I very seldom ever adjust them.

I did have a control unit circuit board go bad.  I had to solder in a jumper wire to get the passenger seat to move back.  It would move forward though.

This is the seat bottom rise function. So the bottom is like fully sloped back. And it will adjust when I go through the memory presets. Just won’t adjust with the button. And it’s like it on both. Super weird. I feel like I need to find a pair of 850 seats and swap skins and foams.

Looks like a solid start!

Sorry I can’t offer any help on the seats, not familiar with the 850 setup

I know the s70 seats are plug and play with the 850. I had the SE seats in my 850 years ago. I just wonder if the frames are similar enough to put 850 foams onto x70 seats. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Other things to address are:

Crappy 2.5” cat back straight pipe exhaust.
Rear passenger window doesn’t roll down.
Side mirrors don’t adjust.

Nice!   Someone local just bought a red 850R as well, crazy!

Is something wrong with the hood or no?   Just looks off to me, the gap on the pass side looks odd.

You are right. I don’t know if it needs to be adjusted or what.

It came with a laundry list of recent maintenance, so there are some quirks that I need to deal with. Find clean 850s in the Midwest is really difficult, let alone Rs.

clean and straight and a nice color! I see you say 'daily' but will it be a modded daily? 😉

also... paint looks VERY good if original - is it?

Not likely beyond what it is. I’ve for the most part have lost interest in overly modifying cars and would rather enjoy them how they are from the factory. OEM Plus is my new goal in cars. If the PO wouldn’t have welded the piping to the stock downpipe I would be looking for a factory cat back to put on it.

And I believe it was repainted two owners ago. It looks like they did a really good job. Not sure who did it, but it’s very clean.

4 years of grading body panels and looking for frame issues has ruined me and my ability to over look stuff like this 😕

I'm excited to see where you go with this!

I'll be in and out of junkyards looking for stuff for my v70, so hit me up if you need help finding a part and ill keep an eye out.

It’s been so long. Does removing the front seats and then running the car trigger the airbag light and only the dealer can turn it off?

It's pre-1999 MY so should be able to reset SRS with vol-fcr (hopefully you still have it?).  And yes, it will set the light (I think; haven't actually done that) for the SIPs system.

Good to see you back in the pre-99 MY P80 game!!

No mods huh?   We'll see how long that lasts..

What MY is this one BTW?  Or did I miss it?

Ah. Well, see if I can squeeze them out the door partially open.

Its a 96. And trust me, this won’t get modified. If anything was going to get modified it would be my e30, but I’ve spent more money on that making it stock than I have any of my Volvo builds.

And after owning the e30 for almost three years now, I wouldn’t spend my time modifying a fwd car. lol.

Unless I can find something locally, a pair of functional 850 seats please.

Get some used seat control modules off of eBay, remove seats from car, and swap control modules.  Get some 850 seatbelt catches while you're at it, too.  Looks nice, how's the interior?

I looked at it more last night, and the tilt function works on the driver side, but its looks like the seat has been adjusted so it doesn’t tilt down flat. I will take that out and adjust it.

The passenger side switch doesn’t work at all, but the motor does because if you go through the money settings it will adjust the seat bottom tilt based on the memory setting. So, I’m going to start with a new switch assembly as mine looked kind of crusty. Maybe I’ll get the module too just in case.

EDIT: Are the modules specific to driver and passenger?

Interior is in really good shape. A little bit of wear on the driver seat, but the others are nearly perfect.
