emrwgn
Hey all, Sorry if there is already a discussion covering this. I had a look but couldn’t find anything. Few months ago I picked up a 2000 V70 2.4T (P80). My first Volvo so my knowledge on them is fairly minimal. Just wrapping up stage 0 and getting it ready for its roadworthy so I figured it’s time to start asking these questions. The motor in it at the moment is a B5244T (AT) sitting at 270xxxKMs. Stuck a bore scope down there when doing the spark plugs and pistons looked a bit pitted but that’s it. No obvious issues with it (touchwood). Option 1: Is it worth the time and money to start adding things on such as a FMIC, Downpipe, Intake and maybe a larger turbo? What’s a safe power range for these motors? And where would you recommend going for a tune? Option 2: How plug and play is a T5 swap? I’ve only just started reading about them so I know little to nothing. Is there a certain year/car/motor that I should be looking for to make my life easier? And lastly any information on tuning software for the ME7 would be great. I can’t find anyone near me that offers it. Literally any information is appreciated. As far as I know i’m the only person looking to get big power out of a P80 down here in Australia (unless I'm just being extremely naive). Any links to other discussions or people that are doing/have done similar things would be awesome. Please use layman’s Cheers heaps 🍻 (sorry if this has already been discussed)

And where would you recommend going for a tune? It is really going to depend on your market. The mods you mentioned could run you 300-500~USD or they could run you over $1000USD For tuning, I would recommend https://vasttuning.com/ I'm not sure if he is active on the forum here anymore, but ill tag him. @Tightmopedman9 Option 2: How plug and play is a T5 swap? I’ve only just started reading about them so I know little to nothing. Is there a certain year/car/motor that I should be looking for to make my life easier? Since you already have a turbo model, its fairly plug and play, but the 2.4 platform responds much better if you are looking for low gains 100~hp. Tho there are some running much more, with substantial supporting mods as well as block work. You will have a noticeable improvement just by taking a 16t turbo from a 2.3t engine and swapping it for your 14t. Likely the cheapest, quickest, best mod option for you if you leave everything else stock. And lastly any information on tuning software for the ME7 would be great. I can’t find anyone near me that offers it. See above, try Vast. He was great when I was actively working with him for remote tuning. Literally any information is appreciated.
