VVolfSocks
ive been poping in and out of the forums for some time now, but have yet to find this specific scenario. I'm looking to get some new rims and tires (and hopefully suspension) to rock in the next car season, but im new to the world of modding and dont want to die : ) looking to change the rims on a 1998 S70 T5 Im fine rolling my fenders and whatnot, but curious about rubbing due to various environmental conditions and turning radius (though three point turns are a thing). would i be able to run 18x8.5 rims with a +40mm offset with minimal rubbing on the inner wheel well? tire size in manipulable, but im looking at around a 215 35 r18 tire. secondary question: would i be able to lower the ride height if those rims are on the vehicle? it's currently sitting on the stock suspension. thanks in advance for the advice! Zappo
Most likely you can run that rim size, but the offset might be too much. That should clear the stock brakes, your only concern would be rubbing on the inside. I run an 18x8 on an 850, and the S70 will have more room. That tire size would be a little stretched, but won't have issues. I run a 225 45 18 with coilovers, so lowering wouldn't be an issue either. There was a C70 on here on Ferrari wheels, 19x8.5 front, 19x10 rears. Not my car, but I did lower it for the owner even more than it was. I don't remember it ever rubbing even on full lock. It didn't have much suspension travel, but tire rub. I will have to see if I can find some of his threads. He would list the offset of the rims. I can't remember his name right now, but it will come to me.
Zappo
His name on here was exexpat. Here is a link to some pictures of the car. http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/gallery/image/2633-profile/ I haven't found the build thread for it yet though. Those pictures look like they were taken just after I lowered it.
flyfishing3
on what car? I ran 18x8 on my V70R 98. I rubbed on full lock. Can't remember the offset. my suspension was lowered 1" but I still rubbed on regular setup. I rolled the fenders a little.
RobT5M
Yeah just noticed you didnt specify which vehicle as well. Post back with a year and model at least please. You can get away with different sizes on a X70, than you can with an 850, for example, even though they're the same P80 chassis.

Post up some photos in this thread -> It may have been in the title, just didnt see it. I wonder if @Mattphi has email notifications lol, he's the wheel guru lmao. Honestly there used to be a website you could go on and was semi popular. I'll see if I can find it throughout the day. Manual swap was honestly super easy and straightforward, it's been covered so heavily on many forums, and I did it when it was a popular swap still so had plenty of resources at the time. I did an engine swap at the same time too though so it made it much easier to do the trans. My only issue was Tasca sending me a clutch kit, sans the clutch and having to wait a week for them to fix that mistake. If you're not going for 300+ though, I would just leave the automatic alone. My s70 Sits 95% of the year now because my drive is not super fun with a manual due to my route taking me through the heart of disney now and dealing with stop and go traffic. gilber33
https://www.willtheyfit.com/ Put in your current wheel specs. Measure from the lips to the inner and outer fenders. Put in your new wheel specs. Do some maths. And see how much room you have.
Burn-E
Actually John @JVC would be able to answer any questions there as well. He and Matt are tight and John is still regularly swapping out wheels on his red S70 and he pushes the limits.
