gdog
Well you keep your 850 around long enough and stuff starts to break. Glovebox latch gave up on me today so figured Robert DIY and others have done utubes on this, and they have, but from all those it seemed like best method was hack-sawing the hasp off by sawing through a slit between glovebox door and the dash. Sure that will work, but kind of a PITA and you're going to bung up your dash and/or the glovebox door at least a little in the process. So I kept looking and found the good old credit card trick on this site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx1n1Obc0lE Didn't have any credit cards laying around I wanted to cut up, but did have some aluminum flashing for a house project and figured that should work. And it did! Now I just have to either fix the latch or buy a new one. But that's a project for another day; went ahead and closed it back up, since I'm now confident I can reopen when needed. Even inspired me to make a (poorly edited) video. Sorry for the novice vid skills, but hope this helps someone. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bcae9pf1kgy73ax/volvo850gloveboxPick.mp4?raw=
Zappo
Damnit! I wish I had found that video. I damaged the covering getting mine open and haven't repaired it yet. You can get a glove box repair kit. I think I got mine from iPd.

NLA at dealer and not listed at FCP or IPD sites. Ebay looks to be the only option..

Boxman
Geez louise, those are some prices. 25 bucks for a bent piece of string that took all of 5 minutes to make and 10 cents in materials - what a way to gauge people for a problem they're having. Zappo
I tried making one of those rods last year, but didn't have the right material. I couldn't go buy anything because my wallet was in the glove box! I bought a repair kit, but I don't remember where I got it from now.

mrtl321
When mine went bad ended up with a drill and opened it that way (had a replacement door). That's a great video @gdog. It amazing how these little things can cause headaches.
