Slater
if you call having your car off the road for a couple of days 'free' then... yeah. i personally wouldn't screw with a 1 grand ECU investment without guarentees. if the ETM software overwrites the IPD software, does the IPD software then overwite the ETM software? i'm waiting for them to figure it out.Exactly. I would be suspiscious of this myself. If the ETM code is seperate from the ignition/fuel portion, it shouldn't matter. So the fact that the ETM flash jacks the MTE flash, tells me that the MTE reflash will just overwrite the ETM code you just had done!
rodrigo
So thats what the IPD Upgrade does...rewrite the ETM programs? This is good info...I have been considering getting an IPD, but have been back and fourth on it...still have not made a definate decision, as the Civinco is now available, and i hear different hings about differnet systems, etc.It will be a bit until I do an ECU upgrade, so I have a little time. aikitect
I have an upsolute chip and was told by upsolute dealer here in Charlotte, NC that they would rewrite the chip for free if it got wiped by a Volvo repair/upgrade.I have not had to take them up on it yet. I also have not had the ETM upgrade done (not even sure if if it applies to an R)

leurven
Volvos built from the year 1999 and after have an ETM. The update should apply to all you with an ETM (I.E. a car built in 99 or after). Always good to double check with the deal.
