1995 850T Wagon fully caged bare chassis

Recommended Posts

This is listed on Craigslist in WA for $5000: 850 Volvo Project.

I bought this rolling chassis from the builder who owns a fab shop in WA. I changed jobs recently and took a pay hit so my pace on this project has slowed drastically. The builder's original thread is still on this forum for those interested: 1995 850 lightweight build.

The first picture is from the builder who drove it for awhile after the cage work. The car was disassembled for more cage work in the engine bay. Pictures following the first 5 are current condition. Has a clean title. Has a full FIA/NASA spec roll cage and was designed to be a replica of the famous BTCC 850 wagons. The car was converted from a sunroof to a slicktop by the builder. The 850 Turbo engine was pulled so the front fenders could be tubbed and the strut mounts were raised and tied into the roll cage with extra camber and caster adjustment.

I was planning to drop in a 2004 V70R 5 cylinder turbo engine and a 5 speed. I have most of the parts to complete the swap including an M56 5 speed tranny out of an 850 GLT and a V70R engine with 127,000 miles, K24 turbo, coil on plug, green injectors, Vast tuned M4.4 ECU good for 4 or 500 horse with minimal adjustments. The timing belt was changed at around 120,000 miles. It's sitting on Bilstein struts in the rear with drilled and slotted rotors all around. Bilstein coilovers for the front need an adapter plate to fit the new strut mounts. I also have all the necessary trans and engine mounts, all the panels to complete the body, plus loads of other parts- extra axles, brake and suspension bits, performance clutch, IPD turbo goodies, and too many others to list.

The things you will need to source are: wiring harness for V70R (I have the complete 850 Turbo harness), suspension adapter plates, seats, and harnesses, steering wheel.
I will continue doing fabrication work on the car as I know that is a limiting factor for some folks. Once I've machined new strut mounts and forward cage tack welds are sewn together somebody could complete the project with basic mechanic's tools.

Thanks for looking. I want to find this car a good home.
