1998 V-70r clone+ for sale

Recommended Posts

After many years of updating, modifying and driving this former 1998 XC70 it is time to let it go. I will first tell you that it has a salvaged title, it’s important to know why as it in no way degraded the integrity of the car. I was leaving for work one early morning and as I was driving down the road my neighbor pulled out of his drive directly into my R front fender…took out the fender, the tire, the headlight and a few other misc parts. Because it was a company vehicle his boss would not do a cash deal and insisted on using his insurance company. Well you know how that goes, the full retail to replace the bolt on parts at a body shop totaled the car. I had way to much in it to watch it get towed to a crusher so I bought it back and fixed it. I can obtain supporting docs if need.
Here is what has been done over the time I have had her. I will probably forget some things I’ve done?

Entire drive train updated to 99 parts, -0- drive shaft vibration! Colorado drive shaft installed. 2000 rear brakes. DVS 320 mm front brakes. Kaplhenke Rear adjustable springs, upper front camber plates and solid front subframe bushings. Home made yellow Koni adjustable coil overs. 2005 50k v-70R 6 speed installed with all matching components including modified shifter and cables. Shift arm locations altered to shorten shifter throw about 15%. Engine is a “RN” out of a 2003 XC90, it had around 40k on it. Engine was stripped completely and 100% cleaned. Bores were perfect with no measurable wear. Crank was perfect. Carrillo rods and JE pistons custom made and installed. Sputter rod bearings  installed. Engine set up for Vast COP control unit Aaron has tuned it to where it’s at now. Wire harness stripped and red wrapped with all COP wiring incorporated, looks factory. Has VVT hubs. V70r exhaust manifold. 19T turbo with angled flange. 960 MAF housing. Alum intercooler and radiator. AEM Wide band. Late V70r intake manifold with adapted 960 throttle plate and throttle cable. DW200 fuel pump was installed with a custom mount into the factory pump/sender assembly.

Interior is in great shape considering the year. No tears in seats, door panels have custom insets made similar to the R vehicles. Headliner is showing some signs of delaminating. Has a R instrument cluster. Dash housing was replaced, no broken mounts.

it needs a good cold air intake fabricated and then Aaron to finish the tuning, if you have 93 octane then all the better. All of the engine work and the trans replacement was done most recently, first engine start was April 2020 with 320,000 miles on the clock. It now has just over 340,000 miles. I actually have a very short video of the first engine start. I have never beat on it cold, never tracked it, it was built to commute a windy highway and to have fun with.
I hate to get rid of her, it has never let me down as it has always been my daily driver, and will be until sold. I threw in some pictures, can send more and take more as need. I don’t know what to ask, I know I have to put a price on here so $13,500? While I don’t want to give it away I am realistic of its value, I could probably do better parting it out? I would love to see this car go to someone with the passion to finish it off and enjoy it.
Let me know your thoughts, including how crazy I might be! The vehicle is located in Santa Cruz Ca.

I left allot of stuff out of this including the  new Quaife installed into the 6 speed,  Snaab Reverse inner cooler kit and turbo intake pipe. The steering rack was replaced and all lines replaced with the 2019 setup. The angle gear was a new one I purchased from Look For Joe. Pm me for additional pics, I can’t seen to load only more on here. I made the 3” stainless turbo down pipe with a couple of V Band clamps in it so it can be removed from the car without fussing with anything else.
