Matt01
I have a 2007 XC70 and the engine died, means I have to pull it either way. I found an M58 850AWD in the junkyard so I had the thought to swap it while Im there. I dont know if anyone has ever manual M58 swapped a P2. M66 is much more common. I was looking at it, and it seems all the AWD cars in Europe come available with the M58. It looks like standard p2 pedals, cables, clutch master are the same. The M58 has external slave cylinder, while p2 cars have internal slave, Which would be easier to run? Id like to use the p80 single mass flywheel/clutch for cost reasons. I assume the sensors would more or less work, anyone know? I think the XC passenger side axle will work, because Im gonna have to use the XC angle gear anyway. That leaves the driver side axle that Ill need. I know the XC would have to be tuned to delete the autobox. Tell me your thoughts, thanks!
BlackT5
Honestly, I would just source an M66. Watch the auctions Auto Auctions: Search, Bid, Buy a Vehicle in Canada | IAA (iaai.com) or source a swap from an R part out, or check www.car-part.com. I would use a T5 motor, preferably 2005+ The p80 M58 mounts differently than the P2 version. Also, the input shaft is smaller. Your auto axles also will not work for the manual trans. Internal slave all the way.
