Does anyone know which model Volvos came with the M56H, and which came with the M56L? The parts guy I am talking to has a complete 1997 850 with an M56, but he does not know if it is an L or H. I figured that if it is complete, I could get all the parts I needed from this car, but I'm not sure if it is the M56H.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

M56H is from 1996+ cars. The M56L is from -95. I am told by many racers in Sweden to go with the H. I did and it is good. Parts needed are:

M56H transmission

"R" clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing.

Flywheel from a -98 car that has been machined flat and true again.

Shifter assembly with cables.

Hydaulic slave cylinder/line from the clutch pedal to the bell housing.(one piece)

The clutch pedal/brake pedal combination unit.(one piece)

The clips to hold the clutch line to the pedal.

The bolt that attaches the slave to the firewall for clutch. There is a knockout already in the fire wall. You will need to loosen the booster though to slide it in.

The slave cylinder on the bell housing to actuate the clutch fork.

Clutch fork if it is not included with the tranny.

Axles from the manual.

Synthetic Volvo fluid.

I will post some directions later.

Regards

Thanks, Bill, for this list.

I noticed at FCP Groton, that they have different part numbers for the manual axles for a turbo, and the manual axles for the N/A. I, too, have found a 850 N/A in a salvage yard with everything needed for the swap. However, will I need to find Turbo manual axles? Will these N/A axles fit into my front hubs?

Also, will this flywheel, out of a '96 N/A, work with my '96 turbo? I know I need a "R" clutch, but what about the flywheel?
