But despite your efforts at hiding your most egregious embarrassments, the view here is that Canada is still a vast ice-crusted wasteland dedicated to beer and America-bashing.No serious person on either side of the border bothers arguing that Canadian anti-American hysteria is a mirage, or simple hypersensitivity on the part of Americans. It is clearer than Molson ale that Canadians have a serious anti-American problem.Think tanks in both countries say it is true. So do newspaper columnists. The Canadian ambassador to the United States has chastised his own people for their smug sense of superiority over America (and got whacked around for it by Canadians in letters to the editor). A respected Canadian historian, Jack Granatstein, calls anti-Americanism Canada's "state religion," while at least one of your newspaper columnists called the mindset "as Canadian as ginger and rye." Teenagers answering pollsters' questions express anti-Americanism (America is "evil") without any guile or effort to conceal.If this hypothesis about all Canadians disliking americans (as a whole, never as indivuduals) is true - and i think it might be - having this gun toting idiot just chyming off about that fact isn't going to change anything.I don't understand why americans think they are owed any praise at all!? Do something admirable for the first time in the past couple decades and maybe the international community will slowly drop it's negative opinion of you!Until then.. smarten up.Again, i speak of the whole, not the individual parts! This article was written for the simple reason of selling newspapers or watching Fox news. Your going to have to live with fact that both people enjoy bashing each other. The same phenomenon is seen with French and the British, China vs. Japan, and India vs. Pakistan. And yes I know the situation with Pakistan and Indian is a little more then just citizens of each nation bashing each other to sell newspapers.The fact that this post was even created for this stupid article, proves that it worked.I say, if you don't like something on the T.V. or Newspaper just ignore it. zimmy77 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 as an american, I am tired of "us" being chastized for actions in foreign affairs. everyone wants our help, wants our money, wants us to police and feed everyone. and what do we get for it? people whining that we didnt do enough, didnt help "them", didnt do it the way they wanted it done. forget it! do it yourselves! we should close down NATO (which we created), close down the United Nations (which we also created). you guys figure it out. and I may be arrogant in saying this, but america has prospered and given more back to EVERY nation in less time than Rome or any other great civilization has. This is in terms of economic wealth, inventions and innovations. and Darn right we are going to fight to protect our sovreignty. Darn right we are going to help people that help us. Even if it is with oil or what not. any person would. protect our livelyhood and our way of life... I'll stop with that and end with something ghetto..... "Dont hate the player, hate the game".
