laird
Gee I thought this was a volvo site? having said that, It is hard to resist. By nature, any candidate to have reached this level has become accustomed to compromising his/herself so don't get your shorts in a bind looking for the pure politician. I just want to be able to afford the occasional upgrade to the boxcar. You must wonder how a fellow that owns (with his Du Pont wife) 30 million dollars worth of real estate all over the world will relate to that. If you want to hand all your tax dollars out to every squeeky-wheeled, unemployed, cause of the day, liberal do nothing, then vote for the new guy. (Remember 85 MPH speedos?) Then watch your wallet, get a bullet proof hat and watch as the liberals lose another war for us ( read your history). end of diatribe.
tarp
I would like to see Al Franken take on Ted Nugent. I'd even pay to see that.Bring back celebrity death match but make it a reality show. Ted would own Al. BTW, this has been one of the best threads since Rolex was here. AnthonyR
Ok, I'll make my chime in for the day. I am in the US Air Force National Gaurd as an Airman 1st Class, and I fully respect and support Bush. Kerry flip flops WAY too much. Under Kerry we would go to war only to have him change his mind half way thru, wasting billions of dollars and lives. To those who think we should pull out of Iraq now, I say to you that is a VERY bad idea. That would mean that the hundreds of soldiers that have died, died for nothing. At least right now they have died fighting for democracy in a region of the world where it simply does not exist.Anyways, I'm not going to go into depth here, but George Bush simply is a better president than Kerry could ever be. Even if you do compare Bush to Clinton in the traditional sense and in the economy, they are a pretty close match for their respective points in their presidency. The simple fact of the matter is that Bush is straight forward, and if he says he's going to do something, by god, he's going to do it no matter what anyone says. It's dedication like that is why he has the military's respect. And finally a word about Polls. 1. Bush and Kerry are VERY close in polls right now (some polls have Kerry ahead, others have Bush ahead)2. Considering all of the attacks that every liberal person on earth has tried to heave against bush and the lack of any real attacks on Kerry and they are that close don't bode well for Kerry.3. The media running these polls is VERY liberal. And polls are very easily manipulated. They don't ask you a striaght questions like "Who are you voting for, Bush or Kerry" They ask you a bunch of bullshit questions about alot of different topics and from that they derive who you will vote for. Like I said very easily manipulated. This will be a close race, no doubt. The liberals in every faction are trying their utmost hardest to defeat Bush no matter the cost. However bush still retains a high approval rating and the support from the silent majority. The only reason the liberals seem like they are more plentiful is only because they are more vocal and active and the media gives them all the attention they desire. Nasty_760Turbo
is a mounting wave of evidence that suggests that the administration had information about the Twin Towers bombing before it happened, but did nothing, costing untold thousands of deaths. In and of itself, that is disgraceful. This is true but the government gets thousands of threats like this. Its up to them to pick out the ones that seem realistic and not a prank or some drunk guy pissed at the world that aint gonna do stuff when he sobers up. The government cant do something about every threat that comes there way, its literally impossible. This is the case with the Twin Towers. But yes Bush is not the greatest president, but i sure as hell dont want Kerry comming into office.

Yes thousands of people were killed, but why are we wasting millions of dollars in investigations about why we didn't act on the information we had and how much information we knew. Who cares! Nothing you can do about it now. Do you think mister "talk it through and put it in a lock box" Gore would have done anything, don't know! IMO I don't think he would have, but that's just my worthless opinion. I don't think there will ever be a president that holds respect from the entire nation. Yes, some are respected more than others, but they all have their critics. I am very pleased with the way Bush has handled things, but I voted for him so I better be happy with his performance. Bush gets two thumbs up from me. :)
InlineTurbo
Of all the people who have occupied the Office of the President of the United States of America, he is probably the worst. Several other changes have been made; if you are selected The Bush Administration has shown a shocking disregard for human life, both that of our citizens and the citizens of countries we feel we have the right to invade. His continual blending of church and state is something that belongs far, far in the past. The crimes he has perpetuated on our country are unmatched by any previous individual or administration. From the moment he first used the phrase "You are for me, or you are against me", he should have been removed from office. Were you in another dimension during the Clintor or Carter Administrations? He has consistantly lied to the American people, misled the public, and has done nothing good for how other countries see us.Just saying that doesn't make it true. I challenge you to back that up with facts. Not opinion, but facts. He has backed up his campaign promises. That is more than most presidents do. Clinton could hardly speak a sentence without telling a lie and you are going to complain about Bush? The world saw us so well under Clinton that they came up with what they call the Mogadishu strategy. Kill some U.S. troops and we bail. Now that Bush in in charge they fear us. I'll take that. What France and Germany think about us doesn't mean squat to me. His term of office has brought about some of the greatest reductions in civil liberties to occur in the history of our country, and I can't see it getting any better if he somehow gets back into office. Obviously you aren't a student of history. Check out what happened to Japanese people in this country in WW2. However, this pales in comparison to the lies he has told, and the cost incurred by the everyday, flesh-and-blood members of the Armed Services, and by normal, everyday civilians. Please elaborate with specific examples. Just saying it doesn't make it true. Read the quote that gdogg16 linked to. It says the total opposite that you are trying to allude to. Seems like millitary pay is up under Bush. I can tell you Democrats in general (not all) are no friend of the millitary (especially John Kerry) and Clinton did huge amounts of damage to our millitary. There is a mounting wave of evidence that suggests that the administration had information about the Twin Towers bombing before it happened, but did nothing,Please cite that "mounting evidence." I'll cite an article where John Kerry was handed a study warning of attacks by professionals and did nothing. Remeber that a lot of the hijackers came through and airport from the great state of Massachusetts. I wonder who the two senators from that state are? http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=37642Here is an excerpt:"Brian Sullivan, a retired special agent from the Boston area, advised Kerry in a May 7, 2001, letter that Logan was ripe for a "jihad" suicide operation possibly involving "a coordinated attack." He cited serious breaches at Logan security checkpoints exposed by an undercover investigation he and another former agent helped a Boston TV news station conduct. Sullivan says he had a copy of the undercover videotape hand-delivered to Kerry's office.....Another former agent, Steve Elson, who set up the TV sting at Logan, tried to follow up with Kerry, but was told by Wise he wasn't a constituent. (Elson, formerly of the elite Red Team that did covert testing, was a Houston field agent at the time.)"Oh, and don't forget this was planned under Clinton and aided by pepole like Jamie Gorelick who made it against the rules to share information from one agency to another about terrorism.http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/fe...ml?id=110004956Another excerpt:"What's more, Mr. Ashcroft noted, the wall did not mysteriously arise: "Someone built this wall." That someone was largely the Democrats, who enshrined Vietnam-era paranoia about alleged FBI domestic spying abuses by enacting the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).Mr. Ashcroft pointed out that the wall was raised even higher in the mid-1990s, in the midst of what was then one of the most important antiterror investigations in American history--into the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. On Tuesday the Attorney General declassified and read from a March 4, 1995, memo in which Jamie Gorelick--then Deputy Attorney General and now 9/11 Commissioner--instructed then-FBI Director Louis Freeh and United States Attorney Mary Jo White that for the sake of "appearances" they would be required to adhere to an interpretation of the wall far stricter than the law required. We believe that it is prudent to establish a set of instructions that will more clearly separate the counterintelligence investigation from the more limited, but continued, criminal investigations. These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation" (emphases added)."Afghanistan is no better off now, with the bickering of warlord factions, than it was under the Taliban; in fact, it's getting measurably worse. Tell that to all the women doctors in Afghanistan. the casualty count of American soldiers in Iraq for the month of April surpassed the casualty count of the entire "invasion" up to the current year. When troops lose their life in the service of our country that is terrible. They all have my greatest respect. But if you want to play a numbers game lets get real. More people died in a single training accident in WW2 than in 1 years worth of conflict in Iraq. Also there were almost as many people murdered in Chicago last year than we have lost in Iraq. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-0...y-murders_x.htm Compounding his military expansionism is the so-called "Universal Service Act", which is something that I suspect will directly affect everyone on this board if passed. The Act is a twin bills S 89 and HR 163, and will 1) reinstate the draft, 2) make service manditory, regardless of sex and 3) require a term of service from all citizens ages 18 to 26. This will never pass. But if it did it would probably mean that more people would actually understand the millitary. Care to guess what party the person who introduced that Bill was from?http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c108:S.89:I don't expect everyone here to agree with me; I realize alot of you probably won't. I'm just stating what I feel. That sums up your post best. Especially the word "feel." Becuase your arguments were mostly based on emotion and not fact. In my eyes, Bush is the Stalin or Pol Pot of our country; his only saving grace is he hasn't started executing political prisoners (though he seems to try and execute just about everyone else, included mentally deficient prisoners).Stalin killed millions of his own people, Pol Pot killed millions of his own people. All I can say is wow. There is absolutely no proof of Bush rounding up and killing Americans because they don't agree with him. Just like there is very little proof of ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. Though there is proof of Bill Clinton ignoring genocide in Rwanda. http://www.guardian.co.uk/rwanda/story/0,1...1183889,00.htmlI've got alot of family already in Iraq, so maybe it just hits me different that it does everyone else, I don't know. I wish them the best and hope they are as safe as possible. I'm sure alot of people will flame me for what I think, but I'm not really one to care. No, I'm not going to flame (unless you consider sarcasm flaming). Just putting some more information in front of you. Maybe if you looked at more real facts instead of listening to propaganda you will see that most of what you are doing is propogating political spin. The real world is out there. Shutting your eyes to it and listening to your feelings doesn't make the real world what you want it to be. mrmandmman
I really don't think Bush can be blamed for not stopping 9-11. What could have stopped it is much more simple and that is reinforced cockpit doors on airplanes... this was not the first time people have broken into cockpits...hell my car is much more secure than the cockpits were. There are quite a few specific things that make me dislike bush. The first one is the war. We should have not gone into war. We did not have good enough reasons to enter the war. WMDs? What? Where? yeah. And how bush got people to believe that iraq somehow was related to 9-11 is still over me. Al queda was based in afaganistan, but no, we have to many oil buddies there... This is not a war on afganistan or iraq, it is a war on terrorism... so it is open ended he can just go on attacking other countries if he wishes and its the same war.The second reason for my hatred of bush is his defiance of the constitution. Any president that does not honor the basis for our country should be thrown out of office. Patriot act anybody? Yeah sure come into my home and search it with out a warrant and while your at it put a keystroke recorder on there too and dont tell me... thats not against my constitutional rights...thanks ashcroft... While they are at it why dont they just do an illegal wire tap too... oh wait....they can (btw those outnumbered legal ones last year) And on another note Bush can detain citizens for suspicion of being a terrorist and hold them indefinently without lawyer...Someone tell me how this is good for our country?? Also I would like to know how many iraqi citizens have been killed in this war compared to the number killed in 9-11.... since i guess 9-11 and iraq are related according to bush. This war reminds me of vietnam in too many ways... InlineTurbo
The first one is the war. We should have not gone into war. We did not have good enough reasons to enter the war. I suggest some light reading. Its called UN Resolution 1441. http://www.un.int/usa/sres-iraq.htmAnd how bush got people to believe that iraq somehow was related to 9-11 is still over me. I'm not sure anybody accused them of being directly involved. However there have been proven links between Sadam and Al qaeda. Remember this is the war on Terrorism not the war on Al qaeda.WMDs? What? Where? yeah. All the no wmd people are going to look really stupid when enough are found to satisfy the liberal media (though we have found plenty of nasty "dual" use chemicals, mobile labs, precursor strains for bio weapons, plutonium enrichment devices ect.).The second reason for my hatred of bush is his defiance of the constitution. Any president that does not honor the basis for our country should be thrown out of office.
