Drop-in K&n Make Much Of A Difference

In order of most to least, in my experience...

Can't really quantify it, but I *feel* like it gave a surprisingly significant improvement to my '97 850 (NA), a nice bump to my '99 V70R AWD (HPT), somewhat to mom's '91 245 (NA) (which now breathes like a windtunnel, given all she's let me throw into it), a bit less than that to my '90 780T (HPT) ... and little if anything to my '99 C70 (LPT).

The latter may have just been a first impression compared to the 850 and V70R, however; I've since been driving the C70 much more aggressively (now that gas costs $3.25/gal -- brilliant timing on my part) and find its throttle response to be outstanding. Nearly instantaneous and surprisingly enthusiastic for an LPT.

One of my employees dropped a K&N into his '95 M3 after a vigorous ride down 280 in my V70R, and says he feels a noticable improvement in his throttle response.

YMMV; YHPMV.

deal.

i'm indian giving the $44 statement. just paid $51.04 with tax at advance auto, picking up at 7am tomorrow.

as far as the other upgrades, i think i'll be holding off until the extended warranty expires at 116k mi. The warranty company did say that an ecu upgrade will not void my warranty as long as the problem is not related to the ECU upgrade, but i don't think i'll take the chance. those wankers would probably blame failure of the angle gear on the ecu upgrade. and with the current state of speed tuning and it's fiascos, it's probably wise to wait anyway.

Mike what are you talking about 80 bucks new? Do you mean CDN?

it's made a nice difference. power seems more linear....if that's right term. nicer sound as well. nice guttoral reflex she has

I did the SpeedTuning chip in my LPT and it got some balls. The chip made a difference and the gas mileage... increased a little. I'm not an overly aggressive driver, but I do like to get up to 80-90 on highways (Escort passport > ON!), and its great for overtaking to get into that turning lane.

I don't know much about the AWD system at all, but I would imagin that if you use the chip to accelerate to speed quicker, and not launching from traffic lights, there would not really be a detrimantal strain on the trans/angle gear....since you are already moving, momentum is on your side :)

Then again I know nothing about the AWD system, so all I have said could very well be CRAP! seems to make sense to my ignant self.

PS: is the IPD ECU visually detectable? The ST is soldered on so if they open it up I think its kinda obvious.
