Removing Window Tint

FINN

Recommended Posts

I will agree with Finn on this one, but add a razor blade to the equation and you shall be set...I had my tint from one window removed and a small oriental man removed it with a bottle of soapy water and a razor...needless to say, he did incredible work and i recommend his tactics to the hardcore

oh man, i didnt read teh post before mine, I'm really sorry

Don't sweat it, questions preventing mistakes are better thank questions on fixing dumb mistakes.

You can also use rubbing alcohol diluted in water to loosen the adhesive. This combo is also used on the invisble car bras --> Paint safe!

Just removed mine, using a black garbage bag and water to heat the glass up. Unfortunately on 12+ year old adhesive, it doesn't do much. I also found that industrial paint thinner works like kryptonite on that glue. Just make sure you use it with all four doors open. Oh, and for the love of God, watch that stuff around your interior!

My biggest problem with the side windows was getting the glue all the way down where the gasket is, because otherwise it makes god-awful noises when you roll the window down and the gasket screeches against the adhesive.

I found the easiest way to do this is to take the panel off.

You should have used 409 instead of water, between the bag and tint. It's works well to leave it out in the sun for a while.

Try pushing the gasket inside the pannels. Might be easier for you.
