Qbm Control Arm Bushings

I've got the 4-bolt style (@&%!), so I guess I'll be waiting...

One question though: iPd, FCP, & others (even PowerFlex) only have one type of bushing listed for fitment. I interpret this in two ways... either (1) the bushing only fits the 2-bolt mount and those of us who have the 4-bolt mount are screwed, or (2) the bushing is the same for both types of mounts. If that's the case, why can't we use your Delrin bushings for the 4-bolt mounts?

Not sure about that. If they do indeed have 1 bushing for all style arms, then yes my bushings may work in the 4-bolt arms. But I don't see how that is possible.

If someone has an old or bad 4-bolt arm they would be willing to send me, I would be happy to check it out.

hey, slater.

i've been posting this question a couple of places, but not getting an answer... and maybe this product is what I'm looking for.

As it is, i have your adjustable endlinks installed and, in the last 18 months or so, have replaced the shocks/struts and spring mounts.

Is the sloppy steering and vibrations i fell in the steering wheel when hitting bumps possibly attributable to the control arms and bushings?

I'm not asking for a money-back guarantee or anything, but is it reasonable to hope that getting these new arms could tighten up my front end considerably. Possibly even making it feel like new again?

Regardless of the answer, thanks again for making a better product for our volvos!

I don't know the exact state of your suspension so I can't make a statement like that. I'm not going to say my bushings will solve all of your problem not knowing if your spring seats are shot, your struts blown, etc.

But I can say they make a huge difference over stock and I have a stock suspension with the exception of my adjustable endlinks and an IPD rear sway bar. The bushings made a night and day difference on my car's handling and tightening up the front end making it incredibly more responsive. And Kirill said similar things on his car. So it would be safe to say that you will not be dissapointed if the rest of your suspension is in proper working order.

Bushings for 4-bolt and 2-bolt are absolutely different. And no way exchangable. No, they will not work, unfortunately.

ok... how is this for a question...

is it common for control arm bushings to fail ... about how many miles does this happen at ... and what are symptoms of failed bushings?

thanks again.

they just wear out with time cuz they are under stress when you drive but i think the key thing is they just suck, it takes half a second for my car to respond when i turn the steering wheel

you would never really replace these normally, but when you replace your control arms when your ball joint goes or whatever they get replaced with it

Are the bushings for the 4-bolt setup a dealer-only part, then? Or did Volvo expect us to replace the whole control arm, like dancetheman suggested?

All the parts places I've checked only list one type of bushing. I can wait for Slater's Delrin bushings, I was just wondering.

I was told that 4-bolt one bushing isn't supplied anymore.

Where these 4-bolt arms were used except diesels?

This has already been answered in this thread.

Everything is ready to go - a pile of new arms, a box full of bushings, shims, instructions, etc. I am just waiting on the lubricant, which was backordered and will be here sometime next week.

The 4-bolt was used on SOME 70-series models. Some turbo, some non-turbo. I'm sure Volvo had some sort of method, but I have seen S70 turbos with it, some without it, some S70 NAs with it, some without it. Just seems to be random. Only way to know for sure on the 70s is to look under the car.

FWIW, I just checked my 98 C70, it's a 4-bolt

Couple quick q's that are sorta related here for Slater.

1. Are your sway bar bushings going to be poly or delrin? WIll they look similar to this?:

gresway.jpg

or will they be like the scantech ones?:

1273184.gif

a. Will yours have a slit on the bushing for easy installation? I suppose it would always be possible to just make a slit yourself in that red poly one in the picture.

2. I am thinking of ordering a universal poly sway bushing kit and fitting it to my stock R bar after grinding/burning off the old bushing. Do you have a time table yet for the sway bushings or a price idea? I can get both bushings and the D-Brackets as well for around $15 from a couple different bushing companies.

3. I know that this fitting of poly bushings on the stock bar has been talked about quite a bit, but do you see any problems with how I am going to do what I outlined in my 2nd question? (i.e. the side to side play, etc.)

4. Is it possible (have you or anyone done this) to get that bushing and bracket off without removing the bar from the car and just do this while under the car?
