"Project 6"

I got it brand new for $850 shipped, but I am not allowed to say where it came from. That was part of the deal. I also got a brand new S60R exhaust manifold for $118 shipped.

The basis for undertaking this project was based on prices like this. I would not be doing this if I had to pay $4K~ish just for the above two parts. I figured - what the heck give it a whirl!

I bet the box was on fire(HOT) when it arrived. ;) Have you filed or ground all the numbers off?

Guys - what do you take me for??? It's all legit!!! The only reason I had to keep the source quiet is that this guy did not want 300 people from the board hounding him for more parts!

awesome project, and with part pricing like that I dont blame you for keeping the source secret. Do you know how youre going to tune it yet? Just remember to pace yourself with the beer, Ive worked on a few cars before where I got too tanked too early and had to tear crap apart to redo it. have fun and Merry Xmas

Man Scott, I remember when I met you, you pulled up in the parking lot down in Santa Cruz, Jason and I looked at each other and went, "who is this guy?" haha..

Since then you've really taken to the mods man! I'm impressed. Congrats, and best of luck on the project!

Kevin - I was only lookin' at you guys like that cause your shirts were cooler than mine!

I've had Volvo's for years, 6 when I lived in Japan including a yellow ES1800 that we completely restored. I've mod'd both American cars (Camaro Z28 three years ago, and Japanese cars (260Z, Skyline RS, etc.) but this is my first stab at actually mod'ing a Volvo. Basics are the same, but I'm finding a lot of unique things about Volvo along the way.

Anyway - thanks for the encouragement.

OK - so today I got the engine block cleaned up a bit so I'm not spreading grease around the garage, etc. The wife is not really speaking to me lately... but that means I can spend more time in the garage - right?

So - I got the M66 bolted up to the block today. IT FIT LIKE A GLOVE!!! Here are some pictures of it. Tonight I will try to clean up the engine bay a bit as I've not touched it since the engine came out. I still need to get a few things outta there. Tomorrow I will try to pressure spray the engine bay and THEN - try to drop in the motor with the tranny. I am doing this to see the "fit" onto the motor mounts, etc. I want to figure out what modifications I will have to make BEFORE I start working on the engine. That way, when parts are out, I can work on some of those items, etc. and minimize the down time. If I can get all of this done tomorrow without catchin hell from my wife, I'll hopefully be able to post pics of the engine in along with the tranny so you can all see what it looks like.

For final install though, I will probably follow CJ's lead and bring the engine/tranny assembly in from the bottom on a nice clean subframe.

OK - the pics!

It is so nice of Volvo to supply a Swedish Pine transmission stand with every tranny you buy!! OK - trying to line them up.

Ashman - the tune part will be slightly tricky and have to cross that bridge when I get there. I need someone to tune it on a dyno - none of this hit and miss stuff by running a dyno and sending out for a remap and trying again and again. I need to find the right tuner and get the car to them so they can mess with it. OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS GUYS.

There is also some efforts with Civinco and I'll be watching that to see how it goes.

yeah, yeah. polish the tranny! that would look awesome. and that just bolted right up, GENIUS! it looks like it may fit pretty easily in there. and if it doesnt just cut a hole in the floor!

The M66 has been fitted to a 98R...

Looks great Scott! :)
