Johann
One question, I see you are using the AWD version of the gearbox. How do you want to use FWD only with this setup?

ultra_runner
One question, I see you are using the AWD version of the gearbox. How do you want to use FWD only with this setup?Johann - as I mentioned, this is a project more than a weekend swap. I'm as much going into unchartered terrritories on this one than anyone else on the board. However, a previous post from SwedishMike provides this:If you get it from S60/V70R the box is made for 4WD as you know. Then you need to take away the "angle-gear" (don´t know the word...). When you put this in a FWD car you got a hole in the box, you need to machine a new wall.So - that is about the most information I have at my disposal. I'd ask anyone with the gifted knowledge or additional resources for these things to jump right on into this thread. One of two things is going to happen, either (1) this project will work and we can document it for everyone or (2) it will not work and I will be having one helluva garage sale To an extent, it is my time, money and knuckle skin, but this is a community project.Thanks.Scott C. turbobrick
you know the new S40T5's come in Six Speed variants... and are still available in FWD.
ultra_runner
you know the new S40T5's come in Six Speed variants... and are still available in FWD.Yeah but try to decipher this from the 2004 Volvo press release. The manual M66 gearbox comes from the Volvo S60 R/V70 R, but it has been reworked for front-wheel drive in the T5 model. This gearbox has been developed and built specially to handle high torque levels, up to 400 Nm."Reworked?"Scott C.
ultra_runner
S60R Exhaust Manifold finally arrived!!!I just love when FEDEX leaves gifts on my doorstep! These are a much better design that the 850 stock manifold. Now. Where is my Dremel??? Another score - $118 brand new - SHIPPED! Scott C.
narxs70
i want a s60 r manifold!Take a look at my Exh. Manifold gasket(s) which are probably original. This is how it was when I took the manifold off. If you look close enough, you can see that I had a tad bit of exhaust leak on one and five. Also notice that white gummy stuff along the head gasket!especially after seeing these pics! i wonder how mine looks? how many hours labor to install a new exhaust manifold (for a mechanic-not me)? I would think swapping the manifold would be easier from the bottom if you had a lift... but I think that would be out. If no bolts strip or break off, it should be pretty easy coming in from the top. Anyone?Scott C.

Johann
are you guys talking about doing this without taking the turbo off? with the engine out of the car?Taking the turbo out takes 30 minutes or so.. The small stuff like heat shield, the hoses and the coolant itself also is a bit time consuming. You could drop everything on the floor but that isn't my style. Sometimes unavoidable but I want to catch the fluids as much as I can.
narxs70
wow, that doesn't sound too bad. it's nothing i want to try myself but at $45 an hour that my uncle's mechanic charges it wouldn't be that expensive. even if he took 2 1/2 hrs. well now that i type it does sound kind of expensive. $115 for labor and say another $250 for the manifold. total of $365. the only logical question next is- would it be worth it? probably not unless i was upgrading in turbos. thanks for yall's input.
