No offense but I have yet to see any real reason why I should support VMS.

We're waiting for a friends engine here in Richmond, it's only been like 3 months or something and they're no closer to being done than they were months ago. Need the engine, FMIC, Turbo, manifold, everything, and it was supposed to have been here weeks and weeks ago, yet we still have seen....you guessed it....NOTHING!

Not only that but almost all of the products are overpriced.

On top of it, no offense to the guys at VMS but, I have yet to see a single one of them type a complete coherent sentence. Sorry but, thats just flat out unprofessional and is NOT very good business practice.

The only thing I'd consider getting from VMS are their rods they are now selling for a good price. I'd be afraid they'd break but someone else makes them.

I'm not trying to be inflammatory, but, you either need to really really hammer out the product before release, and for gods sake if you can't pull that off, ATLEAST HAVE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

:tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup: :tup:

Terry's a nice guy, quick to email you back, he'll even walk through problems with you on the phone.

I'll agree that there have been a string of poor VMS "associates" who make wild claims and promises, and I don't know why Terry keeps hiring them, but I believe that Terry is doing the best that he can.

He's brought things out that no one else has. He's gotten national attention with this Volvo drag car.

That being said, there are valid points in the complaints here. Items shouldn't be listed for sale if they aren't actually available, simple as that.

I hope Terry replies to this.

Did you read the post? He wasn't very quick to email back.

Ok, he hires some morons. It happens. However, he should be able to keep better control over them to keep them from posting about stuff that isn't ready, etc.

He can build a fast car, so buyers are to put up with delays like this without any contact? His national attention is the perfect way to build his business, but you can't keep customers with crappy service.

Here is an example of customer service. I ordered some corner spilters from Frank at EST a few years ago. This was a while before I was on VS or actually knew any other Volvo drivers. I ordered the black ones over the web. I get an email the next day saying that he was out of the black ones, but upgraded me to the carbon fiber look ones for free. He told me exactly what was going on and filled the order to the best of his ability. That is customer service.

I'll be the first to agree that Terry sounds like a nice guy from the two times I've talked to him on the phone, heck ... I could hardly get him off the phone the first time lol, but that's okay I like to talk too. It's just that what the original poster said is so true ... it's RIDICULOUS!! Yes I went into this deal fully understanding the bad rap VMS has here, but that's why I specifically picked up the phone and called Terry. There was no way I was going to order something if he didn't have it in stock, or had to make it. He told me he did have it in stock, but that he needed one silicone coupler and he expected to get it within the week. In retrospect the warning bells should've been going off in my head at that point, but I wanted the kit. Why it has taken him six weeks to get that coupler however, I have no earthly clue. What I really think has happened after reading between the lines is that he didn't have the pipes in stock in the first place, since all of a sudden the top pipes have been redesigned (two pipes now instead of one) and now we hear they don't fit and Terry is trying to fit them on his car.

Yes, it's great that someone brings a product to a niche market ... that is unique. But what good does it do if you can't deliver it?

In my book, good business sense would be to come in here and try their best to address the issue at hand. I have alot more respect for businesses that will respond to good and bad. They typically are more honest, straightforward and all around better to deal with. People make mistakes, but not learning from them and repeating them isn't OK. COMMUNICATION IS KEY.

Terry is a smart guy, he knows alot. Unfortunately their business is in trouble because it needs some management work and it needs improved communications, and I don't agree with some of their decisions. They can still save it, but they need to start coming clean on EVERYTHING. If theres a delay, SAY SO.

LITTLE THINGS COUNT. Like the 2nd day shipping instead of ground, or telling people as soon as the order comes in before they're charged that a part isn't in stock/is backordered and offer to refund them, anything ilke that. Sure there engines are nice, but not if they take 4x longer than expected to be completed and you never have any idea whats going on with it.

I'm currently having a head built in Sweden by Erland Cox. He's on eof the best guys I've worked with in this sort of deal. He and I have exchanged dozens and dozens of emails about every little spec, every little price, every bit of availability information, and every detail there is. Thats how you deal wiht a customer.

I will not try to deny that we have had some problems since we moved but we are working very hard to try improve things for the future. This is the reason for our move into a larger facility. It has taken alot longer than i could ever imagine to get our new shop set up. I am not going to try to make excuses but since my move i have been plagued with problems with ups still thinking that i am still at my old location and deliveries going to the wrong place and getting sent back. Even though i have called ups to try to get this straightened out. I found out that they had me listed under two different account numbers and had my account messed up. I have also had to deal with my Mother having the second heart attack in a year and my brother passed away last monday. I know that these things are no reason for late shipment but i have had alot of problems on my end in getting the parts that i need to make these custom parts.

I must say that as far as Greg goes that you know what the deal was with the downpipe and that you have never been a customer of VMS

Appololigies to you all.

Difficuties in moves and process/production changes is understandable with growth, although this seems to be the reply VMS has been giving for several months now. Even at that, what about the communication and customer service? There really isn't any excuse in not responding to customers or keeping them consistently updated on the status of their order, no matter what the causing issue may be. You have people supposedly working for you (i.e. Aaron - 850drag) that can easily be handling this for you. Aaron has had no problem coming onto VS (even prior to working for VMS) and telling everyone what he was doing to get products out and when they would be available. So why no customer service? There really is no good excuse or reasoning to a lack of customer service or communication in a business.

Also, charging customer's credit cards for products that aren't available when it is presented to them that they are, is just bad business and in some states illegal. If a production product is found not to available after the order has been placed, then it becomes a backorder item and no credit card charge should be made until you can ship that product. I can understand charging a card a deposit for products that are custom or special order, if the customer is made aware of that scenerio. This doesn't seem to be the case in the complaints on this board.
