You may condem it in your worship place but you condem the cartoon on the streets tell me your prophet does not teach this, to place this cartoon over the teaching of your Prophet "The killing of one life is like that of killing all of mankind, and saving one life is like saving all of mankind". Kashif I can't say I understand the logic of this but I hope the Quran and the teaching of your Prophet is not the disgusting view of some Muslims have on the meaning of life and the way they follow your Prophet.

We also condenm killings out loud on the street but you of course would not hear about it. It easier to sell the image of a crazy muslim then one of peace one. And if someone places their own political interests above the Prophet's (pbuh) teaching then they are not real muslims...

are u sure it is a few????

I would say that even if there are even a couple million out of 1.5 billion, then according to my math skills its still a few....

First off this is my very 1st post on this particular section of the forum:

If this is all about freedom of speech..... So let it be.... But also be considerate of those who do not have freedom of speech in their countries.... Most of the protest killings and etc are coming from countries where people do not have the freedom of speech. In fact the only Muslim democratic country on the face of the earth is Turkey and yes there were protests there but no killings.....

So the bottom line is if one is to publish comments or comics you need to keep your audience in mind.... In this case I don't think anyone is questioning the freedom of speech but more like the image that the paper is trying to portrait.

A little history lesson: In WW II there were a lot of German publications brain washing the public to hate the jews, if you read everyday on the paper negative things about a certain group of people you will have a bias, after Sep 11th we had a similar thing in the US about the "war against terror" w/ the idiotic yellow, orange terror alerts among w/ all sorts of messed up publications all over the place..... Most people rear stuff like this and believe every word of it.... Regardless of what the story is, media controls the opinion of the public and possibly brain wash bunch of people.... That goes beyond "freedom of speech"

If you piss off bunch of people get ready to deal w/ consequences.... But their response (offended people in this case) should not be in terms of killing others....

I am not religious or political in any way. I vote and believe there is a higher power, but that is about it.

I believe that this was a little of both. Freedom of speech and a lack of respect for religion. I for one would never put down someone's God or someone they worship.

Now, with that said, I do not agree with how the people are reacting over the cartoons. I believe that they have gone way over-board.

I realize in other countries if they speak out they will probably get hurt but I am talking hear in America. The media is biased and there fews of this are of a political nature but they are not the only news source you can get.

Go to France and say U.S.A. that's also a big no-no :lol

But seriously the government in Egypt is one of the most brutal dictatorial government in the middle east, they love it if people would blame others like the U.S for their problems, it detracts attention from their own ugliness. And I highly doubt all 77 million hate the US, actually many of the youth love US culture and their movies, but maybe not the policies....

In fact the only Muslim democratic country on the face of the earth is Turkey and yes there were protests there but no killings.....

Actually, there was at least 1 documented murder as a result of the Mohammed cartoons in Turkey:

http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/425822/658812

Turkish authorities charged a 16-year-old boy with the murder of an Italian Catholic priest in a shooting that shocked this Muslim nation.

Father Andrea Santoro, 61, was shot dead while praying in his church in the Black Sea city of Trabzon last Sunday. Police arrested the teenager on Wednesday and Turkish media said he had confessed to the crime.

"The suspect was charged under article 81 of the penal code with deliberately killing a person," the state Anatolian news agency said.

Anatolian said the boy had exercised his right to remain silent during a 90-minute court hearing before being transferred to a jail pending his trial.

Under Turkish law, the suspect will be tried as a juvenile and is expected to receive a reduced prison sentence if he is found guilty.

Turkey's government strongly condemned the shooting, which coincided with increased religious tensions worldwide following the publication of cartoons lampooning Islam's Prophet Mohammad in a number of European newspapers.

Turkish media have quoted the suspect as saying he shot Santoro after being influenced by the protests against the cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad.

Eyewitnesses say he shouted "Allahu Akbar" (Arabic for "God is greatest") before shooting the priest.

Pope Benedict, who on Thursday accepted an invitation to visit Turkey in November, has expressed his sorrow at the killing and said he hoped it would help promote better understanding between Christianity and Islam.

The Vatican said the visit would take place on Nov. 28-30 but that details of the trip still had to be worked out.

The Vatican revealed on Thursday that Santoro had written a letter to the Pope shortly before his death inviting the Pontiff to visit his tiny church when he comes to Turkey.

The vast majority of Turkey's 72 million people are Muslims and its Christian population numbers barely 60,000.

On Thursday, Turkish newspapers quoted the suspect's brother as saying the boy may have fallen under the influence of a militant Islamist group opposed to Christian missionaries while frequenting a local Internet cafe.

Turkish media also quoted the boy's father as saying his son had recently been receiving psychiatric help but that he had been a well-behaved child who worked hard at school.

NTV commercial television said the gun used to kill Santoro - reported to be a sophisticated weapon - belonged to the suspect's brother.

I recently came across this article written in "The Jewish Weekly" http://www.thejewishweek.com/top/editletco...php3?artid=4825

I for one find this extremely respectful and thought provoking for both Muslims and our Jewish cousins. The author really drove the point home by quoting an example of how Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) showed us (Muslims and the world) how to respect each other. If one really wants to get a muslim's full attention, just quote the prophets, any of them, I for one will always listen.

Peace
