EST Downpipe and Innovate WB install notes

Recommended Posts

It may not be as loud as you want however I'm positive you can hear the turbo spool very well now from at least behind your car. I know for a fact because for one I heard Donstrukes old T5R with est down pipe and IPD catback stock concical 15g spool from about 20 yards away in front of me with my windows up and me on the gas (stock exhaust at the time). And my spooling was heard from behind me by a first new model GTO going WOT.

yea im rollin no cat too, i love the f-ing sound!!! its even better when running just open down pipe! :) haha

Lol seriously! But Kevin, I mean this in no way to belittle what you did but why install the DP before installing the turbo and manifold? Why not just wait to install them all at once once you have everything?

Because I didn't have a whole day to devote to it.. so just bite some of it off one step at a time. :)

So you are not running rich? Everything I ever read said that a upgraded downpipe and exhaust on a stock chip would cause the motor to run super rich. Am I wrong on that? Also are you running a 3" downpipe to a 2.5" exhaust? Any plans to upgrade to 3" all the way?

Good stuff! I understand completely. It definately used to be hard to pull off some mods when you had to use the car as a daily driver.

ya man, drag!

got home about 2 AM.. :P

idle was 14.5-14.9

and honestly i was so tired on the way home, it was hard to pay attention to the gauge and the road!

full 3" maybe someday... EGT's are about 1000-1100 during freeway jaunts.

I don't know what frank was thinking with that rear O2 sensor location. I called and asked him and he sent me an extension cable for free. That got be about a third of the distance that I needed to go! So out come the wires and the soldering gun and the electrical tape. I just extended the extension. I'd say my homemade extension is about 3 feet long!

Fun install! Thanks for having me over, it was good to see you guys again. Had a few challenges to get figured out but we Got 'Er Done.

Quotes of the night :

"Do you have a spare bung plug? I didn't bring mine"

"No matter how hard I tried, I just could not make it happen with either of these strippers. The smallest orifices are still too big for your tiny little wire"

Short O2 sensor leads FOR THE LOSS! What a pain.

haha, nahh, his CEL works! yeah, code reader is handy...

didn't you plumb the SAS back into the DP?

the only reason i didn't put it in, is beacause we lost the 90* fitting to make it happen.. so its' just plugged right now, but i'll more than likely plumb it all in.

Oh hell, I've got one of those fittings just sitting on my work bench. Look me up if you want it, Kevin.

oh yes.. in the cabin.. spoolage... reminds me of my old truck.. :( miss it..
I could hear it on the drive home actually. I was a bit surprised. Only when you were right next to me and floored it. :)

That is exactly what he wanted to do, which I was against, mostly because of issues just like we ran into.

I need a nap. I got home around 2:20. Slept through my alarm this morning also.
