Seamus
The light goes on because the air is allowed to pass when it shouldn’t or no air when it should. A one way valve may keep a new valve from failing because it keeps EXH from reaching it and it may keep the air pump from failing if the SAS valve was stuck open (hence failed) But it sounds like a new SAS valve is going to be the only thing that is going to turn off the light. A one way valve would have to be a valve that can stand high ambient as well as working temp so if you do use one…. Don’t put your tongue on it. aldug
I have a '98 V70XC turbo and I also got the dreaded P0410 check engine light error. I determined both the valve and the pump were bad and replaced them both. In replacing valve, the end of the hose which connects the air pump and the valve was so hard and brittle on the valve end that it cracked. Cutting the split end off made the hose too short to fit. What do I use to replace this hose? Is this a special volvo part, or do I just look for some black hose that is the right size?

Seamus
350 miles? That should be long enough..

pfeener
Emerysmith; glad you're system passed. It was a long road. You should pick up an Inova 3030 or something like it so you can read your codes and you'll know when all the monitors have finished running. I bought a new one off ebay for $52 including shipping. Figawi
i have an obdii scanner. is the Inova 3030 something different?
pfeener
Nope it's juat a regular old scanner. It sounded like you didn't know if your system was going to pass inspection or not. The 3030 will tell you if all the monitor routines have run and passed, maybe yours does as well, sorry if I misunderstood.

Patrickw
The SAS valve? is that the thing that looks like a little fuel filter and has a wire plugged into it and costs around $125. Thanks, Patrick

pfeener
It does look like a fuel filter. It's on the back side of the engine; sticking up in the middle, but there's no wires running to it. There's a purple vacuum line and a hose from the air pump.
