Cv Boot And Rear Latch

First thanks to eveyone for all your advice and help on my first T-belt change. I have never even owned a Volvo and this one I bought about 3 weeks ago.

The next fix I need to go after on my V70 is the rear latch and the passenger side CV boot is partially torn loose. Anyone have experience with either one these?

Rear latch??

On my V70 the big back rear door that opens straight up will not latch. It seems as though the latch mechanism od the door itself is not working properly. It feels like the spring is not working right within the latch.

Yeah that happens (the latch). Apparently they changed the latch design on the V70's to make it a bit cheaper than the 850 ones. Mine broke, and I replaced it with an 850 latch (which is a tank). However I can't use the rear key hole, but it works fine otherwise (not that I care about using the key on the trunk).

The V70 latch mech is allot cheaper to replace than the 850 one. The install is very easy.

I have only been able to find one at the dealer, can you not get them from Volvo parts stores? I assume you have to take interoir panel off?

Yeah I too have a torn CV boot that I am about to repair. When I do I'll post a write, hopefully.

I think I am going to go ahead and do the axle. Is there step by step instructions on Bay 13?

Don't think so. I dont see it. But there is alot on that on this site if you do a search. Maybe you will make one(step by step instructions). You take good pics. I saw your timing belt ones.
