Evil E
Help! I washed my car this afternoon, and while cleaning the glass, there was a large piece of sap or a bug or something I could not get off. To remove it, I used a piece of "synthetic" steel wool-- it left a few scratches. Does anybody know if I can polish them out? They are not too deep, as they can not even catch a fingernail on them as you drag it across. Thanks,Jay

Evil E
Thanks, but I don't know if this would be aggressive enough for my scratches. I think I'll call a glass shop on Monday morning and see if I can get any advice. I hope I can buy something and tackle this myself.

Gioseppe
should have used a razorblade and water/windex as lube.

Über855R
If you call a glass chip repair place they have a machine that can actually polish the glass, it is like a suctioin cup that squirts an abrasive liquid on the glass and polishes the scratches. If you call around and find somene let me know I have some pits I would like to polish out as well.
Evil E
I ordered a glass polishing kit this morning. If it works, I'll let you use it whem i'm done. If not i'll have to hire a pro to do it; and if that does not work, i'll be force to shoot out my own window and make an insurance claim.

Spoony
My windshield is filled with rock chips. Does that proffesional polishing take out chips as well or just scratches?

They are not too deep, as they can not even catch a fingernail on them as you drag it across. For future reference: to remove sap from glass, use either 3M bug & tar remover, or gingerly coat a rag with some gasoline. Bug jerky can be removed with paint cleaning clay (makes windshield unbelievably smooth). Take your scratches to the pros -- they have the technology ... Yellow95
I called around Ft Myers, and there is no glass place here that can/will take the pits out of my jeweled lenses.;(Gary
