UsmcScott
Thanks S70 OK, when I accelerate hard, as the car shifts into overdrive? I do seem to hear a ka-lunk. Do I have to replace some seal, and if so, should I do that before changing the gear oil ?
Three Fat Tigers
Sorry for the delay in responding, been out of town. Odds are the clunk is related to either the drive shaft center support bearing, a bad u-joint or a damaged/failed suspension bushing, the fire could have damaged any of those. The rubber support for the center bearing might just be worn out, or the metal spring might be sagging and need replacing, both are pretty cheap. Also if the exhaust system was tweaked or is otherwise out of position, it too could possibly make body contact under those conditions.
