I live just South of where this happend about 30 some miles or so.

It was on the news this morning and they showed footage from when it happened and it looked like the body was cut in two, because there were two yellow blankets coverings on the road.

hope it leads to an arrest. that is heartless. can you imagine how bad that would weigh on your conscience?

It wouldn't weigh on mine at all. If you're crossing a major highway you go somewhere you can see far down the direction of oncoming traffic and you RUN if you do it at all, which you shouldn't anyway.

And as was said, it's possible he didn't even know he hit her depending how she was hit.

Nice how you assume this guy should have a guilty conscience. It was probably an accident he may not have been able to avoid if he had seen it coming. It's probably her fault for walking in front of the truck, and I can't blame the trucker if he did know for being scared shitless and driving away. Not to say I'd do the same, but assuming he was innocent it's really heartless to blame this poor guy who didn't do anything actually do anything you might not have done if you were in shock from having just hit a person in your tractor trailer.

of course the drunk trucker just had to be driving a nice volvo. speaking of, have you seen the new volvo semis. there hot.

Where did you pull drunk out of?

Masy be you guys would be interested in finding out what they are doing wiht the turbos on the big rigs .... they are using some sort of variable houseing ... or a means of changing the volume of the housing ... not sure just how they are doing it .... it's for emmissons , to meet the new 06 and beyond regs for diesel engines.

My brother-in-law was driving down a dark road, around 2am, back to town one night several years ago and what they thought was a deer ran infront of the car. It came from the woods and jumped right into the windsheild. They pulled over to the shoulder. My sister was freaking out because there was glass all around the cabin and my brother-in-law got out to check the car. The front was trashed as was the windsheild. He decided to check on the deer to make sure it was dead....turns out it wasn't a deer.

After the investigation they found that the guy that jumped into their car was walking back from a bar, extremely drunk. He had a history of suicide attempts and had lost his job several days before. My brother-in-law was completely sober and found not at fault but it still disturbs him to this day.

Sad stuff.

I'm with Legend on this one!

"Early morning hours" folks. Trucker making cents per mile to feed his family making an all night run... tired in the early AM hours. Dumb blonde walking the shoulder of the highway. BANG. Guy panics and jets home.

Put yourself in the driver's shoes for a moment. I'd agree that he should have called the police - dumb move not to. But the thoughts of life in prison were probably more overwhelming at the moment.

Just my two cents. There will probably be rebutal but I'm outta this thread.

Early mornings hours, tired driver, i don't think the woman was wearing reflective clothes. couple that with the fact that a 30 ton truck hitting 150 lbs of anything probably would not jar the truck. it may say volvo on the grille, but that is the only thing this truck shares with our cars. i know plenty of truckers that said they hit deer all the time and don't stop to check it out. if the state can prove that this guy maliscously killed her by running her down ten they should prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law, otherwise i see nothing wrong with what he did

I agree with ya'll on the opinion that the driver may have not even noticed he hit something, or just thought it was a deer. Two guys I went to highschool with were drunk driving down the freeway, at night, on their crotch-rockets racing each other. One of them lost control and both of them went down. The bikes and both of them were off the freeway. One of the guys died in the accident, but the other one was still alive, hurt obviously. His head was still on the road and a driver not noticing something was in the way, ran him over. The driver just thought he hit a coyote and didn't stop (in New Mexico). Later the driver was watching the news and seen the accident and realized he was driving that same stretch of freeway at about the same time. Called the authorities and sure enough, he hit the one guy that was still alive. Driver wasn't charged with anything...

So yeah, just showing that it can happen to anyone.
