Yellow95 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Looking at buying a 1997 GLT for my wife. Wanted to know if a t-5 ecu and the 15G off of my T-5 would make this thing a pseudo T-5, or are there other variables I am not seeing.Gary
copycat923 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I think you may need the whole wiring harness? Intercooler Piping and intercooler? Anything associated with turbo... BCV, ectI just might have all of these things, besides the turbo and the ECU, and one of the intercooler rubber pipes from the turbo outlet is a little messed up but not horribly. I'm parting out an entire 850 turbo as you might know and I have not sold any of these components.

Volvokiller Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Perhaps not on a 97. People have used 16ts and T5 ecus on 98 lpts. There should be no issues.
maiku Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 yes, people have put larger turbo's into their lptthey usually remap their ecu's to adjust for the turboi don't think there should be a problem if you use the stock T-5 ecu
thelostartof Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 if you do this ... you'll find you'll be a fair amount quicker than another stock T-5 because of the increased CR on the LPT motors you will make a fair amount more torque and power @ the same boost/rpm .. turn up the boost and it will become very quick
Yellow95 Posted July 24, 2006 Author Report Posted July 24, 2006 A couple have. Jesse- DO you still have that last downpipe? I would love to pick it up this weekend. Hell, I would even let you install it as a last hoorah.Gary

I rode in a 97 lpt with 16t, DP (3" IIRC) and an IPD ECU. It was notably quicker than my 855 turbo... Even with the 17PSI ST chip. However, that block didn't last very long... so use caution. I would think a T5 or R ECU would be ideal with a 15g/16t.
